Okay, just how **** of an owner are you?

I've been told I'm a little on the **** side...

I'm not sure why, don't most everyone do these things? I mean, afterall, we got rules, don't we?

No one eats in my car. I made ONE exception in my last mini and my 10 year old dropped chocolate in the perforated seats and smeared it.

I park waaaay at the other end of the parking lot. We don't park near other cars, PERIOD. If I go to a valet, I slip him 20 bucks to make sure he "takes care" of my baby.

I wash my car at least 4 times a week on average. Seems normal to me.

I vacuum at least once every couple of weeks. When doing so, every once in a while, I remove the seats to vacuum underneath them.

Last but not least, I always turn around and check out my car after I've parked it somewhere. I'm not sure why, I always have....

So, anyone else do anything that could be considered **** compulsive?

Same here....

Plus I find a parking spot that IF someones does feel they have to park near me they can only do so on one side of the mini. And then I inspect the mini before I leave.
No valet EVER!

I wash my car at least 4 times a week on average. Seems normal to me.

At least 1-2 times a week......plus every door jamb and even under the hood is toweled off. Includes waxing with Banana Gloss and/or Hydro(used at every washing).

I vacuum at least once every couple of weeks.

Weekly after washing......

So nope I say you are normal......

Forgot one or two.

Upon returning to the MINI after the very long walk to no mans land where no one else parks.....a pre-ding inspection

And

I pump my own gas

Clean interior of the the sunroof assembly while open.

Take off wheels to detail the Calipers every two weeks.

Full detail of engine bay twice a month.

Never use automated/drive thru car wash

Keep a mix of rubbing alcohol/water in spritz bottle in the boot for bug splatters on paint
( I use Zaino no wax .....)

Oh I have seen these threads before in other forums. The rules of my car.
No one eats in my car.
I do park toward the back of a parking lot.
No one touches the music without letting me know first.
No smoking.
My car is not a clown car so no more then 4 people.
It gets washed once a week unless there are circumstances where I can not.
No feet on dash board.
Do enjoy the ride.
Ask me all you want about it and why you should get one.
***, grass, or gas no one rides for free.

Last one was for fun. These are pretty much it.

No one eats in the car.
When taking in my car to get it serviced, no one touches the seat (recently someone did and actually broke my controls :( )
No passenger can ever rest their edge of their door on anything... ever
No hitting your feet on my door when getting in or out.
No closing my door by using the glass window to push the door closed with (my wife has a problem with this rule...)
No putting those stupid "your next oil change is due ___" stickers on my window
No one gets to complain about me driving the car in a manor it should be driven (ie: don't complain while I turn).
No one picks music of their choice in my car. I'll suffer in yours, you can suffer in mine.
No leaving bottles of a drink in my car. I'll allow liquid, but leaving it there is a big no no.
No, I will not turn down the air. I like it cool in the car, I can't stand being warm unless the sunroof is open.
I double park in the boonies in private parking lots. Don't like it? I don't care. Get used to walking, I never park in the front spots.
I'll wash the car as often as I can.. if I have to go to an automatic wash, it's brush-less only. No other options are good enough.

No, I would say we are normal

Weekly wash including door jambs, under hood, boot jambs with Hydro. Monthly wax and Black Wow or something new I've tried on the plastic inside and out is Aerospace 303. Very nice stuff. Feet on the dash? Do you want to keep those feet on the end of your legs. If they wanted you to put your feet on the dash I think they would have put carpet or mats there for you. Monthly vacuum or more if it gets dirt inside. I have allowed eating on Road trips but then it requires another vacuum when we get home. I consider myself normal. Its most of the rest that are abnormal and dont care about their cars.

Not a problem.... I'm the only one who changes my oil.

No one gets to complain about me driving the car in a manor it should be driven (ie: don't complain while I turn).

God, someone tell me how to make my wife listen to this.

No one picks music of their choice in my car. I'll suffer in yours, you can suffer in mine.

Most of the time I only want to hear the engine roar anyway....

I love my car, but it is just a car after all. If it gets dirty it gets cleaned. That's my simple plan that works for me.

Though I couldn't do it... I'm glad you're happy doing what you're doing, as long as it works for you.

Wow, I thought I was the only nut job! I definitely park at the end of the lot one side exposed, give the car a nice walk around each time and reserve my back seats for attractive occupants that can fit the space constraints without complaint.

I am trying to learn to get over the things I can't afford to completely undo like rock chips or the jackass that burned my paint in detailing. I think the rest just comes with loving the car the way I do. I love fully cleaning it with regularity and driving it with pride. Some people ask why because it is not a Porsche or something, but frankly it is my Porsche or something. Mind you, I don't mind smoking in it so much as long as it is ***, grass or tires

I prefer OC... nut job sounds sooooo,

Especially in my business. People bring their cars to my bodyshop to get repaired because I am so OC and they know they'll get the job done the way I want it to be done.

If everyone thought I was a nut job, well, you get my point...

My car either has to be immaculate, or immaculately dirty.

I wash my car about once a month now. It usually goes the winter without a wash.

I like the look of brake dust on my rims.

I park next to the cart corrals, nobody parks by those, so it is a guaranteed spot.

I don't go anywhere high-dollar enough for a valet.

Paint chips on the front don't bother me, I just fill them with touch up paint and move on.

I only eat in my car on road trips, even then it is usually a quick granola bar.

At any kind of service shop:
-no one may move my seat at all, driving position is very important to me. I once spent about a half hour finding the correct spot again after some service dude moved it. Shops that deal with me know not to touch the seat.
-no one who smokes may be near or inside my car, definitely no smoking in or around it.
-the windows must be up while in the shop.

I do not like any smells in my car besides the leather conditioner. I'd be more apt to vac the carpet and condition the leather than I would to clean the outside.

You ARE ****

I don't bother with wheel protectant because I wipe my wheels and exhaust tips down with a damp cloth after every drive (in the rain) or ever-other-drive during dry conditions.

I only have 2 rules.

-My kids can ride in the car if they do not touch anything. I have them well trained. My older boy knows to close the door without touching the windows.

- My wife does not get to ride in or drive my car. That was established early on when she said that my car was ridiculous and a joke (Tim you heard it first hand). You don't like it, you do not get to use it!

+1 for Mark. He is great at starting threads that get lots of responses.

And oooh. 600 posts. Not too few considering my brief time on here. And not too many. I am obsessed but not that much.

I've had my car for 11 days and it has been washed twice, waxed once and vacuumed 4 times. Vacuum stays plugged in next to where I park my car. Black interior shows everything. No eating allowed. Nobody smokes around me much less my car. Nobody drives unless supervised by me (wife excluded). I would like to be less **** but it's just the way I am. I should probably be medicated.

I am pretty lax when it comes to my car, wash it whenever possible (will use brushless car washes), eat or drinking OK but nothing sticky or messy (no Carl Jr leaking burgers), nothing left in the open when car is parked for the day (no visible junk), care taken with parking (but there is never any guaranteed safe spot), try not to park under trees (birds and tree crap), most people don't smoke anymore, can't imagine anyone who put their feet on my dash, don't worry about the radio, can't hear over the car noise, and most people can't figure out how it operates anyway. That about it.

People can't hear the radio over your Justa's engine? Man, either I got screwed over with my S's engine, or your radio is broken

As far as Justas, I can't get my wife's do move much less make noise, but that may be helped the fact she has an automatic transmission.

Btw, regarding being **** when it comes to Minis, it's hard to be in my wife's Justa because she treats it so badly. Three tabs have been pulled from what holds the roof liner on either door and the back hatch. It doesn't really sag, but it's enough that it bothers me. She has huge paint chips on the front of her car... one the size of a quarter, that she doesn't want me fixing because "she doesn't notice it". Also, she has two problems, a clip broken on her driver side rear wheel well trim, and door dings and roof dings (...I have no clue, they're huge) abound. She has chips on the black vertical trim between her front and rear passenger window, and if I recycled all the coffee cups, magazines, grocery coupon flyers, mail, power bar wrappers, and other trash, I think I'd be able to save the earth single handedly.

I've been secretly repairing all the things wrong with her car (not all of them are listed... I could go on for another page), and she's yet to notice a single one. That kinda makes me sad, but at least she enjoys the drive.

If nothing else, ya'll good for a laugh

Thank God we don't all get together, no one would talk to each other because we'd be vacuuming out our cars...lol.

It's good to know I'm not the only **** one out there. I feel your pain Mellow Yellow. I bought my wife a brand new Jeep JK in 2008. It was bought black with the intention of painting it pink.

I painted it pink, put a lift kit on it and new wheels and tires. It really looks good, she can't go anywhere without someone taking a pic or asking about it.

HOWEVER, she's a FREAKIN' PIG. The inside of it is disgusting, there's change with gummy crap all over it stuck down by the shifter, there's "water" (uh huh) stains on the seats, the thing is filthy.

It's SO filthy, she spent 6 hours cleaning it up just enough so I could take it to the detail shop so I wouldn't be embarassed.

As far as vacuuming, I like the inside of mine clean but I do a lot of road trips and for some reason, I like to drive without shoes so the carpet must me clean.

Sounds like my wife and your wife should hang out. Same story both of her cars are moving garbage dumps, A 94 Acura Integra and a 2008 Toyota Highlander. Just the other day I said this week you better bring those cars in to get a quick wax and washed at the local car wash.

I don't really wash my car very often, but I clean it when I can. Right now it rains a lot. I haven't vacuumed the car since I got it in August but I've got the rubber floor mats for that. I don't park near buggy corrals and I don't park next to other cars. Oh and absolutely no smoking in or near my car. And don't mess with my seat.

I've found that as I've gotten older and the family is growing, I am waaay less **** than I used to be. I still like a clean car, but the definition of clean has changed. I wash the car maybe twice a month now, unless it's really bad. I vacuum every time I wash it. Haven't waxed it in over a year, too much time. Funny thing is that I used to do detailing for living while in college, oh that seems like a lifetime ago and sooo much has changed. I got a new PC buffer 3 years ago and it's still in the box!!

Maybe someday I can find time to........
