guys/gals, when i come up to my car and hit the unlock button on the key, all the doors unlock except the drivers door. i can hear the door click, but it wont unlock. i have to hold the unlock button down to open the windows and sunroof, reach in and open the door from the inside. any help or clues would be greatly appreciated. i own a 2004 MCS. Please remember, i'm not electrical savy, so english pleasle-lol.

 

Yup...happened to me awhile ago too. I was inside the car when my car decided not to let me out. I took it to the dealer and they fixed it under warranty.

Seems there is a cable in there that sometimes gets disconnected. My dealer usually fixes things so the problem does not reoccur.

 

well, i'm so way outta warranty, so that's not an option. any other ideas?

 

Pretty sure that Beken has described what is the issue with your door. From reading the forums, there is a cable in the door that goes over a curved piece that has a channel. It is common for the cable to slip off from this piece. If you do a search, you will find descriptions of the issue and step by step instructions on how to take the door panel off and fix the problem. Just make sure that you find the door instructions for the first generation as the R56 doors are different.

 

Since your door will open from the inside, then your cable is intact.
Looks like you'll need to replace part number 1 which is the door lock actuator.

Happened to me and there are threads here to help DIY.
Search the site.
Start at the DIYs and the HOW TOs.

I did mine in about 2 hours and did not have to remove the glass or the window actuator motor.
