Production Pictures - Who would buy one?

Friends & family are having a good laugh at my angst & tracking obsession while waiting for my MCS, it's something they clearly are at a loss to comprehend.

During a recent friendly 'banter' at the office someone commented that they wouldn't be surprised if MINI/BMW offered to sell "Production photos" of my car as it progressed down the production line showing the VIN, the marriage, paint booth, etc. I envisioned something like the amusement parks do after riding a roller coaster, etc. Sounds like a brilliant idea to me!!! I'd have opted for a few pics if they existed.

So.... I ask, how many other NAM members wouldbe interested in having photos of their MINI's "birth" into the world?

I would gladly pay for the images and/or video of my MINI coming into being. Especially my Clubman that I configured and ordered. It still think it is really neato we can configure a vehicle in cyber-world and a few months later, get the real product. But yes, I would pay. Since everything is automated in the first place, I don't think production costs would be too bad.

ditto!

while they're at it, how about offering UK delivery... a vacation and a new car all in one! I'd like to get a BMW in the future just so i can opt for the European Delivery program.

Ferrari already does this. A nice touch is the group picture of the employees who worked on the car. I think it's only done for customer-ordered cars.

That is a great idea.

The bad news for you is that the production process is extremely fast. You will truly be agonizing as you await shipping then delivery. I spent hours tracking the ship lugging my MINI from Southampton in Newark. Then it seemed to sit for days at the arrival port while they putzed around even longer before letting me know it arrived.

And it was all worth it. Greatest car I've ever owned in 41 years of driving.

I would certainly love to have some pics or a video of my MINI being born. Sometimes I watch the production video on the MINIUSA website and imagine it is my car being built.

I would love it too! My family and friends already think I'm nuts because of my tracking obsession - could you imagine what they would think if I started showing off pictures of my MINI being born! They smile politely now when I give them the latest updates. Thank goodness for my online friends who understand!

If you decide to go all the way and name your Mini, I'd keep that to myself -- they'll never understand (some of us online Mini friends don't understand either...).
