HID fogs questions

So i have a set of ballasts that i was using with my old 06 Silverado.

my question is are all ballasts fairly universal i that will all ballasts work with all bulbs (being that they may be different brands) , and what bulbs would best match the factory HID low beams? 46k?

and is it likely that my fog light housings will melt?

ballasts are rated for bulbs used as far as wattage. Most kits are 35watts but recently some 50 watt units have surfaced.

Not sure if you can find bulbs at 46K. Maybe 5K will be as close as you can find ?

I have been using 35 watt HID's in OEM fog housings for while now. No issues with OEM housings melting. Front lens is clear and no signs of melting.
