Poor SUV in the NYC snow

The SUV was trying to leave its parking spot with authority I guess. My mini cooper on the other hand surprisingly plowed out of my street parking spot with not too much effort and predictably handled itself on the road. I couldn't help but smile at the other guys shoveling out their SUV or trying to drive their fancy sport cars in the snow.

total bonehead move, pulling out in front of you as well... what a jabroni.

The SUV is not an answer to driving problems. Here in Utah about 40% of bad weather driving accidents are SUV's with over confident under skilled pilots, your video shows a prime example of the breed.

That video doesnt really show how bad the SUV is, it just shows that the driver is an idiot. I cant believe some people drive basically the same no matter the weather. they almost deserve it.

The other day in my loaner mini, I got stuck up a hill in this terrible snow storm NJ had, and a guy in a hummer h2 helped me out. But the tires on the loaner were pretty worn out, and they looked like summer tires anyway.

Same goes for the drivers here in Idaho.
They think because they have AWD, or 4WD they have a license to drive the same on icy roads as dry ones. They will blow by you on the freeway speeding in a blizzard...
revenge comes when you pass them as they sit on their roofs in the median.

I'll chime in with the bonehead driver brigade.

I just bought my gf a new Honda Pilot with hydraulic 4wd. IOW, it only engages when needed, otherwise its fwd. Driven with care, it made easy work of yesterday's snow. Just goes where you want it to with no drama.

If you drive like a yutz in the snow, it doesnt matter what youre in, youre asking for trouble.

SUV driver was definitely a bad driver but you might consider clearing ALL of the snow from your car before venturing off. Looks like several inches of snow on your bonnet.

Here in the UK, a decent study of SUVs found that their drivers were four times as likely to be not wearing a seat belt (compulsory here) and seven times as likely to be using a hand-held mobile phone (illegal here) as regular car drivers - demonstrating once again that 'safe' vehicles breed over-confident drivers (or vice versa?).
