Dealership calling to see if I was interested in selling my Mini
Has anyone else gotten a phone call about selling their Mini back? The sales person told me that the market for Pre-owned Mini have grown much more than New Mini.
They were calling some of their previous customers to see if they would be willing to sell theirs back.
I declined the offer. (Wasn't really interested in hearing it, but still kind of entertaining.)

What year and how many miles. Cause if it is like 3 to 5 years old with between 40 to 60k on it that is about the most your going to get on trade in. My friend who sells Scubbies was telling me that. But hey they might just want you to buy a new car.
Allta Jarids' got it right, worked a several Ford, Chevy dealerships and this was one of our slow days phone games. While we were wasting our time 99% of the time, as the SM would say it only takes one pigeon to make your day.
Yep - a new car sales fishing tactic. They find that a lot of folks who aren't 100% satisfied with their current car, or who just have a predisposition to want something "new", will buy another of the same brand once they come in, see how "shiny" they are, see the new features, and take one for a test drive.
I actually got an email from my dealership about a month ago; they were offering 120% of value for used '08 and older model MINIs... here's my story about it, but to make it quick, I got enough for my '08 MCS to pay off what was left of my auto loan, a credit card, and still have some left over for the downpayment (with better financing terms too) on a '10 MCS scheduled to arrive at the VDC on Friday.
...plus now I don't need to upgrade the maps in my GPS.

Warmish cold call.
Get you to trade up (or they claim they will just buy outright). I got a call like that from a very excited sales person that needed my 2005 Cabrio S. Then when he called me back he gave me a stupid low ball offer and told me that the new Turbo S Cabrio is what caused the value of my Supercharged S Cabrio to be so low.
Load of crap. He knew what my supposed POS Supercharged S was when he called.
I think they just really needed me to buy a new one.
*Note: My 2005 MINI is not actually a POS... just explaining how they justified their low offer.
