Vendors needed for supercharged/turbo challenge

as everyone knows, there was what started out to be, a huge mud slinging contest between RMW, and MYNES.

I have posted a "challenge shootout" Party, instead. You can see the details starting at the last few pages. I will post them here if you like.

So far Mike from Mynes thinks it is a great idea, and has told me he is in!
We are also trying to see if we can get DR-FUH's help in attracting mini usa.

Gnaster has tried to get this type of event off the graound once before. I don't know exactly what the main attraction was to be. But, here it's going to be the two mini's. head to head. Both displaying the building tallents in bringing out the most power from the turbo, and the supercharger.

I would like to see rules set forth by mini usa as to the mods that are allowed to the cars for the contest. basicaly, there car, there rules.

We know that the economy is not the greatest rite now. my shop is very slow. But. If we all can donate a little money, and a little time. We can make this event to be bigger then the dragon.

gnaster posted that when he tried to get the event going at the track in the past, it was going to be around 10,000-15,000.
Thats a lot of money for one person. But, if we break it down to a per vendor cost, at 61 vendors here on nam. It's between $250-350. per vendor.

Now I will just throw this out there. At my body shop, I also have a vinyl department. I have the capabilities of making banners. I will give for free a 2'x6' banner of the vendors logo, to the first 5 to commit, and put up $250.

Now to be fair. Mynes gave me a yes last night on the forum. So I am going to make there banner. If RMW confirms, I will make theres as well.
I also would like to see some kind of prize, and trophy awarded to the winner.

Any ideas for this, please pm me.

No, and I am sure most aren't either. Total waste of time and effort. Nothing will be proven besides showing what a lot of money can buy you.

You want ungodly HP........go turbo and new ecu.

Want good power from stock block......go for SC modes.

As I said in the other thread.....apples vs oranges. Two totally different customer bases and no reason to try and compare them.

Well they would probably show interest if most members on here werent so rude and obnoxious.
If more members had more respect and acted like gentlemen mini, and other larger vendors may take a look. maybe thats why we pretty much only have mini related vendors on this site, and not google, and other big ones like them.

As to why would mini be interested in this? lets see. an old chicken farmer had a few ideas on building a race car, talked it up and got both company's to "invest" in him, because the other was told had already been signed up.
long story short, Carol Shelby ring a bell?
Sorry, guess im one of those "thing big, and outside the box" type of guys.
which is why i am able to do what it is that i do
cheers!

LOL to this thread. There is a thread going already and both Mynes and RMW will be at the track. Why are we making this longer ?

two different customer bases, yet the same car. interesting

waste of time? it depends on how into motorsports you are, im assuming , not much.

by the way your two comparisons dont make sence.
turbo and ecu will not give "ungodly" power, and the turbo is an sc

sorry, guess i just enjoy the challeng of turning negativity, into positive.
And I love to take something someone says cant be done. (Due mostly to the fact that it was just to much hard work for them to complete) . And reap the rewards of doing it.

Actually if you look to the left side of the page there are Google Ad Word type ad's. Also there are MINI related vendors for the most part as this is a niche market. The likes of Jegs, Summit and the really big boys don't carry MINI related items.

Advertising on NAM has always been low key and hopefully it will stay that way.

Yes.......you have the owners who like their SC cars and those that want the turbo/ricer.

Unfortunately you are wrong here as well.....you have no idea what my racing experience is. Probably longer than you have been driving.

Since when has a turbo been a supercharger.........

And we all know that putting a huge turbo (many more options available) with an open ecu will provide more power that our small, and now available larger, SC with the limited stock ecu.

Who has said this is something that can't be done......you are just heaping on what has already been brought up and agreed to. Sit back and see what happens.

And please stop posting.....you are just reinforcing what everyone already knows about you.

Technically, he's correct.

According to Merriam-Webster's dictionary, a supercharger is defined as:
"a device (as a blower or compressor) for pressurizing the cabin of an airplane or for increasing the volume air charge of an internal combustion engine over that which would normally be drawn in through the pumping action of the pistons".
A turbocharger is defined as:
"a centrifugal blower driven by exhaust gas turbines and used to supercharge an engine".

According to Webster's, a turbocharger is included in the definition for superchargers - it is in fact a very specific type of supercharger - one that is driven by exhaust gasses. Other superchargers that do not fall into this category - the kind that we are all used to hearing about - are normally driven directly from the engine's crankshaft via a crank pulley. So in reality, it is not fair to compare all superchargers to turbochargers, because all turbochargers are also superchargers. For the purpose of this discussion, however, a supercharger will be considered all superchargers that are are not driven directly by the engine, while turbochargers will be considered all superchargers that are driven by engine exhaust gasses.

But yes, in this case it's more of a than anything.

Mula, FWIW, if you really want this to go somewhere, you're better off working behind the scenes. Contact the vendors, see who is interested. Posting a thread on NAM is NOT going to achieve the desired results.
If you want vendors to show up, you have to work out the logistics (display area, places to stay, etc.), not just say "if a bunch of people provide money, it will work."
Best of luck.

Can we just drop the Mynes vs. RMW/ SC vs. Turbo aspect and just make it a big MINI HPDE like PCA does? I could really care less who's got the biggest pair, I just wanna go fast! That and see some cool cars, hang with some cool people.
