MINI Rooftop Event Space in Manhatten -- Bizzare
Anyone else happen to catch this NY Times.com article?

Aside from the fact that Mr. Hay obviously has no knowledge of the car itself, the whole concept seems rather strange. This is a MINI marketing angle I never would have imagined.
IMO, it's cosmopolitan snobbery at its finest.

The NYT article seems to give a different slant on the event than the press release published on MF: http://www.motoringfile.com/2008/08/...-event-series/ ... but I guess that's not unusual.

Thanks for the link from MF. The difference in perspectives between the two articles is fascinating.
Still think the whole idea is a bit odd from a marketing perspective, though I can see some linkage with the "Creative Use of Space" theme. I guess MINI sees the upscale urbanite market as fertile ground. It unlikely that the average person running in these circles will have any appreciation for the rich Mini heritage and its competitive bloodlines, which kind of makes me sad.
I wonder if the "NYC creative crowd" will wave?
