OK, so where is your RATTLE?

I have a rattle in my MINI that is driving me nuts! It is on the driver's side & probably in the forward half of the car, somewhere near the outside of the car. It rattles 3 to 4 times when I drive on a bumpy road. If the road is flat, not a problem. But I am unable to locate it. So, tell me all your pet rattles so I can try to resolve this problem. NJP

None so far, touch wood. Lest you mean rattling the sabers.

I have one on the right side of the driver seat, if i scooch over just a bit, it goes away. If anyone is sitting in the passenger seat, it squeaks as well. Haven't gotten any passenger to scooch yet (because they're always holding on for dear life).

The worst one is somewhere in the dash. I suspect it's connected to one of the cupholders, but no amount of pressing, hitting, or yelling at it does much good.

The Dealer fixed a rattle, something to do with the CD Player, put some felt somewhere around there. But still have a Buzz/Rattle somewhere around the passenger vent or below. Not bad enough to lose the car to have it looked at. It only seems to occur on one Highway we drive daily on our commute to work.

I had a rattle behind the driver's door. I thought it was the window, but my wife sat in the back seat and figured the rattle was in the antracite headliner. My wife pushed in a spot and the rattle went away. The MINI is quiet now and I'm so happy.

find a bumpy spot that will ALWAYS make your car rattle, then drive over it with the clutch depressed. Does the rattle go away? It does on mine. I read a thread on this particular issue and MINI replaced tons of parts... brakes, suspension, etc. to no avail. Once they realized pushing the clutch in made it go away they determined it was a loose flywheel. I don't hear it enough to really worry about it, but hopefully that gives you a clue about yours... if that's what it is, search the forums here for the thread on this. There is a PUMA# they reference which might help to have if/when you take the car in.

Best of luck!

Highway 85 right near the Mountain View dealer.

Makes it convenient for the dealer to troubleshoot rattles with a bumpy testing ground so close.

When I first got my Mini I would hear an occasional clunk/rattle coming from the rear hatch. Upon examination, I discovered that the sub licence mounting braket was loose and could not be tightened down. My guess that there was a plastic threading that was striped out. The dealer replaced it and everything was fine after that.

The dash and the rear hatch, around the bottom. I'm pretty sure it's the plastic hitting the metal of the hatch, I just haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.

With polyurithane engine bushings, everything rattles. But some are unrelated.

Rattles unrelated to those that happened before install:

The dash up by the center vent, the driver's knee plate thing, both doors by the locks, the sunroof, the center console by the downtubes, the rear hatch latch, the exhaust heat sheild, and some others I have not tracked down.

Squeeks: all 4 adjustable control arms, on the end that can't be accessed for grease. (>_<)

I've got one in the drivers side kick panel, but I kicked at it really hard on a long road trip a few months back, and now it only happens every once in a while.

There's also one that goes away if you squeeze together the plastic semicircles on either side of the window-rolldown switch.

My wife's friend has constantly complained about a rattle in her Mini, she has had the car in to the dealer numerous times but insists that the rattle remains. After careful diagnosis I have determined the rattle is between her ears!

Sounds like the IT manager error, EBKAC or the ID10T error.

Another one creapped up over the last week or so. It was something to do with the Rear Sun Shade, Dealer fixed it while Molly was in for the Cog Symbol. All is well!!

Mine is somewhere in the passenger door, near the tweeter/door handle. It is very random, and I've still not been able to pinpoint its' exact location. Quite annoying, but I still LOVE my MINI.

I found that my door lock post thingy (the one that pops up or down depending on the door lock) rattles a bit. I should be able to fix that easily enough, though.

I have one coming from the driver's door. I know thats where it is, because if I push in on it, the rattle dis-appears, debating taking the whole panel off and investigating

Mine is the clear plastic piece on top of the tach. It is the spot that blinks red if you have the alarm installed. The plastic piece is pretty thin, but it has a slight ability to move left and right. Whenever i hear it buzzing, i put my hand on it to stop it.

prob need some super glue or something.. but it is dang annoying.
