I was looking at pics and my mini lately and wanted to see if anyone has done this..
The SC intake "tubes" have the ridges on it. I am sure it's for the structure. But can I grind the ridges down and polish the aluminum? Would it hinder the structure of the tubes?
Thats what I had in mind. Since I dont have my car here to look at in person, will the tubes be able to be polished? Like with a buffing wheel and compound?
Paint would look nice also.

Yes to a chrome like shine.
That is what I was going to do instead of powder coating. Nut now I think I am going to Anodize them red? It is a lot of work grinding filing sanding though.
Ya I think it would look cool all polished up. I blacked out everything on the car but under the hood might look cool. I have a silver (soon to be polished) STB and want to get the polished overflow tank and oil catch can.
Maybe I should just fined a used set. Then I could take my time.
Good idea. The 3 pictures took me about 2 hours to do. And they have a way to go to be what I want finished in them. What I am finding is the casting for these is very poor. Many small pin holes. So I may not be able to anodize them to look good. Polish will be my second choice.
Dude! That looks bitchen! Did the just polish it with a buffing wheel and compound?
There is a product called Zoops that you can put on that and keep the shine. Thats just what I was thinking to do with mine.
Think I could find cheap SC tubes so I dont have to have down time on my car?
Thanks it was a lot of work. Don't think I will be doing another one.
I can't believe I did not take a before picture! You would need to look at a oem untouched manifold to see all that I did to this one.
I used files, grinding stones, grinder, porting tools, and hours of wet sanding and shaping before the polishing.
I will try the Zoop
