Grill Badge Holder -- how much from dealer?

How much is the grill badge holder from the dealer? I was going to buy one from one of the vendors and then noticed people were having trouble installing them -- and so I ask this question.

I think it's ~$30, if memory serves...

I just received my badge holder + badges and I don't think I'll install them. It's just too much trouble (removing the grille) and IMO the magnetic badges sort of detract....dare I say "they look cheap".

I really don't know what I expected but whatever, it wasn't the magnetic badges. The field is open for a easier to install and higher quality grille badge for the R56.

I paid around $25. The badges aren't for anybody. If you're the type of person who like the clean look of your car, you'll probably want to stay away from the badges.

If you like to make a statement or if you just change your mood, they're a great option. I used to be the guy with a half dozen stickers on my rear window. Now I keep my car clean, while showing off my interests.

I've sported both traditional badges and magnetic on my MINI and eventually pulled away from the traditional badge - mainly because I've got a magnetic version.

Yes, it looks cheaper, but I've got a traditional badge from my local club, motoring underground, MTTS 2006, and the Houston club. Because of the mounting solutions, hanging those out aren't as easy.

I do have my local club badge on a powerful magnet and I switch it out with my magnetic badges from time-to-time. But being more expensive, I rarely use it for fear of loss or theft. The magnetic badges are cheap enough to replace if that happens.

Again, they're not for everybody, and I'm glad in a way. That just makes it more of a unique feature for my car.

BTW, rwwilsonjr. If you don't like your badges, I'll take them off your hands.

The grille install is really quite easy, 15 min's start to finish after following this thread and instructions.

I just installed mine and I do like the look a lot (got mine from outmotoring - it was a bit loose and I added a bolt to make it tighter). Also ordered several badges from Cooper Flags (great quality). Really easy install.

Umm, the R56 S grille removal is so easy a 10 year old can do it with one arm tied behind his back. Seriously, if you can't handle the front grille removal on an R56 MCS then you haven't been trying hard enough. That's just IMO, though

I didn't say it was hard...just too much trouble and the end result, IMO, detracts from the car due to low apparent quality. And, wishing for a design of higher quality which would warrant removal of the grille. I will agree that if you like the look of decals etc. then the magnetic badges are a convenient alternative

The badges from Todd aren't that bad. I agree, though, sometimes you need to wade through the crap to get a gem.

I dunno, I have the Outmotoring badge holders and they look fine on my grille, even when I have to take the magnetic badges off when I'm in a dangerous neighborhood . Your mileage may vary I guess.

Why are some people opting for Vendor vs Dealer?

I like to support small businesses, better customer service (generally) and more choice.

Here is my badge holder from outmotoring with the a cooper flag badge. IMHO neither of them are "cheaply" done. The holder is solid and the badges are quite thick.

I'm enjoying my badges as well. Thanks to Todd and motoringbadges.com

Outmotoring.com and motoringbadges.com need and deserve our support. Imagine if none of these vendors existed - it would be quite sad for Mini owners to have no enthusiast support.

I have the boot dual badge holder from cooper flags. I think it was $25 and it fits behind your license plate. I'm not mechanically inclined and I didn't want to have my husband do it. He thinks he is mechanically inclined, but he's not.

I'm just getting into badges and it's quite an addiction.

What kind of badge choices are you looking for? BTW, you're image isn't coming through on your post.

I am having trouble figuring out how to post the image directly into the message, rather than putting it so it appears in the smaller "attached thumbnail" box.

I guess selection-wise, just looking for more choice, and different ones. I think I've exhausted all the websites that offer them. More holidays would be nice I'd love some nice ones for Christmas.

Tried, re-attaching, now it's not working....not sure what I'm doing wrong... I've attached photos before. For now, I put it in my gallery instead.

Your image tags look right. I wonder if you're link goes to a private (need to be a logged in member) site?

Here's the one in your gallery.
