Ghost stripes?

Has anyone ever tried doing the following? Sorry for the crappy picture quality. I'm @ work & don't have access to fancy pants photo editing software.

I think this is a cool idea. What does everyone else think?

Can you explain a little more what you're trying to do? It's hard to tell from the photo...

If you do a search there are a few MINIs around here with ghost stripes.

Sorry, I was playing with the configure thingee on mini's website and came across this look. Basically they are the same color stripes as the car color. The only part that is noticable is the different color trim (in the picture above, they're white). I called them ghost stripes but that may be a misnomer. Hope that helps.

Lots of owners did it to their R53's It is a great look! Finding the right color stripes for the paint is the key

Thats funny this thread came up. I have been considering ghost stripes for a little bit now. I did purple pearl ghost flames on my dads Mercedes silver 55 chevy and they came out great. I am looking for a color that looks good on a DS/S Clubman. Hmmmmm....

It would seem to me the easiest way to do it would be to get just the pins done - then you don't have to worry about matching the center of the stripe to the paint.

But maybe I'm missing the point and that's half the fun?

When it comes to stripes I think everything has been tried at one point or another, and ghost stripes always look cool. The ones I am used to are just a shade lighter than body color w/o a pinstripe. However, the idea you are proposing w/ pinstripes would look great! I wonder how hard it would be to match AB on a stripe since it tends to be a pretty complex color.

What I've done in the past is a clear with a tad of colored 'pearl' in it, so it is only seen in certain light....truly 'ghostly'.
