Custom Paint Options from MINIUSA.com - New?

I was looking around MiniUSA.com today after the site was refreshed to add information about the MC JCW and discovered a feature on the site called "Custom Paint Shop" that I had never seen before:

http://www.miniusa.com/#/build/paintShop-m

It seems to provide some truly interesting features for customization that I wish I had known about before placing my order.

Am I crazy or is this new?

Also, what is up with the color choices? I can't select my LiB for my MCS and I thought Hyper Blue was discontinued?

I'm going to go ahead and start talking to myself since I already think I'm crazy...

Apparently the color choices don't even matter as you can now select whatever range of color you'd like and do a paint fill on the entire body of the car or roof. This seems like a fundamental change in the type of customization MINI offers motorers building their own Coopers. Where is the launch information or recognition of the new options?

I don't believe that those customizations are offered as options. It is just there for your amusement on the site. A game.

but Porsche will do this for you. It's called "paint to sample". You provide a sample of the color you want and they paint it that color. It's a $4,315 option.

Have to agree-- it's a fun thing to show the extent of you-if-a-cation you CAN do, but those aren't things the factory or dealer are going to do for you. But, that said, any of them would be possible with a custom paint and vinyl job!

also the vehicles shown are not an R56, and the clubman is not an option. Would be cool though

that would be cool... Actually, just nice to have it come from the factory with painted arches would be nice.
