Share my MINI, uh NO WAY! I've had it almost two years. I finally let my husband drive it about 5 miles on a highway a year after I bought it. Note I bought it. He hardly ever even rides with me. Too afraid of the corners. I love the earlier posts about hanging on and screaming! He rarely screams, but, I can almost hear his head exploding. I really don't feel too sorry for him. His toy is a 1973 Opel GT - actually he has two. Plus he has a conversion van that we drive to art shows. And then there is the car we share - a Flame painted Turbocharged Pt Cruiser. Looks sweet (there is a pic in my gallery) and is easy to drive. He loves the PT. He isn't too jealous because he doesn't know what fun he's missing. Besides, I don't know why he would want to drive CHEQQRS. If anything went wrong it would be a really, really bad thing!

I've told my husband there are two things that would make me make myself a widow over: 1.) cheating, and 2.) if he did ANYTHING to the Mini! Hey, as long as we get the ground rules straight early-on, right?

I've noticed he's been subtly driving it more and more lately - "helping" me on long drives, etc. Uh huh. I may have a convert on my hands...Except, I know my "Miss Daisy"...he'd probably get something a little S L O W E R than my turbo....

Had to revive this thread. I used to think it was very funny.

Since my MINI is coming soon...now I'm getting a little "nervous". ()

Is there any way to make anonymous posts (and we can just ignore this little inquiry)?

Sorry kiddo...no anonymous posts here. The best you can do is use obscure usernames.

The wife's driven my MINI once. But she has a BMW 328xi (black with gray interior) which is awesome and elegant just like her, which I always make a point of pointing out to her.

She lacks that quirkiness and eccentricity. She seems to agree with this assessment as she's on record as calling MINI motorers weird or all alike (when it comes to the wave).

My daughter, who is much more attuned to the MINIverse, had motored my MINI a dozen times before she got her bonnie blue Yaris which she loves.

My husband and I had designated days when to drive the MCS. Problem was solved when I won the 2yr lease for a clubman on Minis on Top 2008. Now we are a two mini family!

That's awesome, inimini2007! How on EARTH do people get so lucky!? Can you play the lottery for me, too?

I despair of ever being part of a two MINI family. I keep working my husband on the Clubman, but he's such a stick in the mud sometimes! He drives a BMW 335i in silver, and thinks it's wonderful. Nice car...but...um....kinda...boring. Sigh.... So I'm forced to hang around other crazy MINI people for my "fixes."

I gave my wife a ride in the Mini S, and we went out to have dinner and see The Dark Knight.

She said it felt like a go kart. I asked, "what do you mean?"

She said, well, it's like playing Mario Kart on our son's Nintendo DS. And when you accelerate, it's like pushing the X button (boost) on the game, in terms of sound and feel and everything.

My boyfriend always wants to drive my MINI. I've let him drive it twice. Then (jokingly) he begs me to give him the key whenever he sees it. As if.

I told him one day he'd buy a MINI and we'd be a happy MINI family. He insisted he'd rather have a Porsche first if he could. Oooookay....

I got into my MINI this morning and my husband walked out of the house and said..."wait a minute, I'm driving you get to drive the MINI all week". LOL because he was a real doubter when I decided to buy my MINI!

We managed 7 months.

We never had any problem sharing a Civic, then we got the MINI to replace the Civic, the Civic stayed and who got the MINI became a problem.

We've had 2 ever since.

It's not just the wife, it's the kids too!

I am fairly new to the MINI Scene but having a ball. I picked up an '02 Liquid Yellow MCS a couple months ago and I love it. This forum talks about sharing thier MINI with their spouses, but what about the rest of the family. Last week I went to a cruise night with my "Other Car" a '36 Chevy street rod, my one son decided to tag along with my MCS. Have to admit we had a lot of fun together. Last night my other son hit me up to to borrow my MCS for a date with his girl, said Molly would get a real kick out of it. Never had to share my cars before.

My experience has been that MINI owner's are typically a pretty cool bunch but we don't share very well. I'm very protective of my dog and my MINI. I have signs that are laminated when I take it in for service to remind them not to wash my car with their dirty broom. I hate getting it serviced because the porters drive it like they stole it. And I NEVER valet!
