And Gromit's comment about NASCAR being like watching M&M's being flushed around the toilets is about the funniest imagery I've seen in a long time. I think red is the fastest toilet M&M
Granted, no one has used a carb since the early to mid 90's (Mazda was probably the last, some of their B-series pickups were carb'd), GM and MOPAR still build pushrod V8's at least. That's better than nothing. And you actually can buy the same heads and manifolds used on their NASCAR powerplants. GM has used SBC 2.2 heads for a while (may have changed, IDK) and MOPAR utilized their W-series heads (probably W7).
as is every engine ever made (That I'm aware of) for the Corvette .
Minus the limited production C4 ZR1 which was a DOHC 32 Valve V8. Pretty awesome technology for the mid 90's, adjustable suspension, that kind of stuff.

Never been much of a domestic's guy, thus my knowledge is fairly limited, I just knew that their new 7 liter V8 is pushrod, and set some kind of record for 500 HP (Highest HP pushrod engine). Glad to know BMW can make 400 with 4 liters .

I've drifted from the domestic scene but stll read about it and dabble in it a bit. The newest C6 Z06 stacks up like this:
7.0 liters and 505 HP (highest HP motor from GM)
7,000 rpm redline (highest for a factory built pushrod motor)
0-60 in 1st gear just past redline
197-198mph top speed
pays homage to the 427 Corvette's of the late 60's and early 70's (7.0 is 427ci)
fastest production 'Vette (for now)
The new ZR1 is another subject...

Except BMWs 4.0L is EPA rated at 14/20 while the 7.0L Vette with 100hp more still out does it with an EPA rating of 15/24. I guess I'll take the fuel sipping Z06.
Still, although NASCAR technology isn't exactly relavent to modern vehicles, the competitive spirit is still there.
When one goes to the dealership to sit in a mini for the first time, I'm guessing most people would know not only how they look in one but how they fit. If Dale Jr. likes lifted trucks, all power to him. He just has to realize that a mini is NOT a lifted truck. You cannot look up a woman's skirt while she is climbing into a mini like you could in a lifted truck (But you could get a top shot through the sunroof if you are lucky!
See what you can do if you have gobs of money to throw around. You can heavily mod your mini, decide you don't like how you look in it and sell it (probably at a loss).
Oh well. I hope the buyer of his mini enjoys it much more than Dale Jr.
I really don't want to be derogatory, but, he is just a red-neck has-been that is keeping his racing career alive solely based on his daddy's legacy – ie: his name. He has won only about 5 races in 5 years, so, you have to consider the fact that he is no longer a very good judge of a capable vehicle and his driving skills are obviously sub-par. I am an auto-enthusiast and love cars of all makes. I don't care if it is a Mercedes or a Ford. If I don’t like a car, I won’t buy it. But what Mr. E. Jr. needs to keep in mind, it isn’t the car that made him look goofy. He just simply looks goofy. He looks goofy in a Mini, a ‘Vette, a pick-em-up-truck and even a Bentley. He is entitled to his opinion, but like so much relating to automobiles, he is wrong.
My Master told me, "The confident one cares not what others may think, do or say as the truly confident answer only to their inner self." That said, Dale Jr. is alot like many of the "rural-types" that live here in WI.
