Matt, anything that is set up in such a way, that the guy who is first, suddenly gets slipstreamed to twentieth (conversely taking the "train" to first), and that "rubbin or bumpin" is racing, is just WWF on wheels.

Yes F1 cars do come apart with substantial impact. That's how the drivers survive (re: Kubica, 2007 Canadian GP). The ability to win the race WITHOUT smashing your way to the front requires a hell of a lot more skill, in my book.

Like watching my commute at 5pm, speeded up slightly.

But, NASCAR does IMO that is, suck hardcore. And, I think Jr. should worry more about finishing better than 12th or 13th when he starts on the pole than what he's driving home.

Hey, cut Dale some slack. His problem is that he didn't get his friends to vote on which color car he should buy!

So now he hates on it because it makes him look goofy and afraid of what people will say?

Its clear people got to him and what they thought was more important than all the qualities he found in the mini cooper.

Amazing the power of peer pressure.

Looks like someone forgot to tell that to Old Man Earnhardt over the last, oh, 25 years or however long he'd been racing. "I can't pass you so I'mma ram you outta my way".

People, people, it's all about er 'bout image. He can't go havin' his fans think he drives anything sofisticated(how DW would say it). Plus what would his sponsors think? So it's no Jr's fault, he's just lookin' out for his fans.

If people make fun of my mini I just take them for a ride. We get back and no more making fun of the mini. As for junior, to each his own, I see it as a good mini going to an appreciative owner.

Yep, my mini has great garage mates, a 66 cobra super snake, 04 SRT Heffner Twin Turbo dodge viper, 71 Pantera (supercharged), twin turbo porshe carrera gt, ferrari 599 gtb fiorano, and a 70 dodge challenger 426 hemi with Gale Banks custom quad turbos.

No, wait, I was just dreaming. My mini's garage mate is an 07 chysler mini van. I hate waking up

So that makes sense. Let's keep a truck that gets terrible gas mileage rather than an awesome, fun car that you don't have put gas in every 3 days. Smart choice Dale!

I wanna know more about your V8 Miata myself..... granted I never thought while driving a Miata "Gee a Mustang engine is exactly what this needs", I'm glad it was always an option to do it.

I used to sell parts to a guy with a 302 powered Miata. He said he dropped ito 3rd gear on the highway at maybe 60-65 and just tapped the throttle and he was scared silly. The kits are awesome because you get everything. In the complete kits, you even get a new independent rear from a T-Bird to use. And the best thing is how stealthy they can be. His car looked stock minus 2 electric fans, 2 small chrome exhaust tips and you could barely see the headers if you looked at it at the right angle.

I think that says more about the U.S. and some of the people in it than it does about Nascar.

I agree...
Football has 16 games a week filling the stadium of at least 50k. So thats about 800k people showing up on a given Sunday. Don't know the capacity of a Nascar event.

And I think more people will watch the NFL on TV than a NASCRAP weekend.

maybe it is Dale that tooks silly, funny, stupid ...
NOT the vehicle he is driving.

I think he looks "goofy" in any car ... rollerskates or a tricycle may be a good option.

Of course it is, thats the point Its attempting to lump an entire group of insecure, overly-masculine men by the type of vehicle they drive. People do it to MINI drivers constantly too (oddly enough, by the same insecure men with big trucks, haha). Ever hear that all MINI drivers are gay?

That's the beauty of generalized statements. There are exceptions to all of them.

Thats not an uncommon comment in this country. Size means how manly you are. I guess pretty much all of England are gay for driving minis and other small cars.
