It is my escape from lawyering.....and lawyering requires escapes. I like the sound of taking things at your own pace. I think I got so excited about the run that I forgot that I don't drive like that. I've been a passenger in the Hawks Nest run and I've seen guys take the turns like they're on a track....in short, like there wasn't another lane coming in the other direction. I was scared for them because there would have been a horrible head-on collision if something had been coming around the bend in the other direction. But I worry about such things (happens when you spend years doing car wreck cases). I don't want to see anyone get hurt or worse.

I might be able to get one....maybe 2 (if we can find the other one) portable radios that we could use. I also think it might be a good idea to plan certain stopping points (I know there is a decent parking lot near Glen Ferris/Kanawha Falls with a little beach and a nice view of some of the falls) and even plan a time for lunch. That way, people know ahead of time where we're stopping, if someone gets behind.....and, if people weren't ready for the run, they could just meet us for lunch at Hawks Nest.

Right now, I'm trying to be up for the run. I have out of town depositions scheduled the week before and the week after but I don't think I'll have to go to all of them. Assuming I'm not too tired from the week before or I don't have leave on Sunday for an early morning Monday deposition, I'm planning on being there.

Okay, don't take your '02 in to look at an 04. You will be tempted to buy an '08.

So now i need to update my signature page ot a mellow yellow '08 MCS!!!!!!!

I just got back late last night... I will be taking some photos Monday and try to get them up loaded. It is a Mellow Yellow MCS, 17 inch wheels, sunroofs, multi function steering wheel, manual, cruise, xeon lights, heated cloth seats... I didn't go hog wild, $26,000... But plenty enough of extras for a lowly ski bum.

I went to Crown Mini in Richmond. Know a few people who have had great dealing with them from when I worked at Wintergreen. (also on the way to visit family in Va beach...

Couldn't decide on the "mood lighting" on the drive home... Leaning towards the blue hue though.

Really looking forward to the break in period getting over with!!!!!! I joined the DCMM club and am heading up on the 6th for a run with them. I called an insane German ski patroller I know up there and talked her into being my co-pilot for the run (of course she did negotiate/extort driving privaleges for half the run )

I will get photos up Monday evening if the computer gods are smiling on me.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone on our run to Hawks Nest!!!!!

Again Congrats <g>

Sounds like a great MINI... and the yellow should stand out good in a
snow drift <g>. The break in period will be over with before you know
it. I think the secret is to take "long cut's" everywhere you go.

Leave ten minutes early, and spend it driving <g>.

Did you happen to get DSC? Don't know if you've seen the fifth gear
video about it... but it made a believer out of me.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=j-hHWSQhKuc

Oh... and while out shopping this evening ran in to two more MINI
owners <g>. One from just across the border in Ohio, the other
from just down the road from me in Eleanor, I believe.

Good people. Gave them info about the club and admired their MINI's.
One Red/white the other BRG/White. Will follow up with them this
weekend with more info.

I just met Gone Postal tonight. I like the idea of a WV MINI group. I'm in for a run to Hawk's Nest or just about anywhere else.

Hello again Bucky <g>

Glad you found us. Welcome back to NAM.

(Folks, Bucky's the owner of a nice looking '03 Cooper S, if I remember
the year right)

If you click on my screename you can see my previous posts, and use
that to track back to the first WV thread we had going. That and this
thread should give you an idea of some of the folks here in our area.

(And there's others that various members have been in contact with that
do not post on NAM, of course <g>).

We've got good people here... a pretty diverse group. The Hawks Nest
run is tentatively set for the 13th. I always try to preface my comments
regarding it with "If I have my MINI" <g>.

(If I do not have it by then, that doesn't mean the run's off... just means
I may not be in a MINI. (If the weather's good I could always take my
beat up old RX7 convertible <g>)

I know your a veteran of the board. If it's been a bit since you've been on,
I reccomend you look around a bit. Tons of info to be had. I've learned
a bunch just browsing the threads.

Thanks everyone,

The "mood lighting" consists of small LED lights located behind the door handles, on the center posts above the seat belts, and in the center console with the map lights/sunroof controls. The colors range from orange to blue... I fugure I will just have to let female co-pilots pick their favorite. (I'm too single to know what women want, and I know enough to let women tell me wha tthey like )

As for the mood lighting....women love it! Well, at least I love it and I'm a woman! It's fun. But good luck letting a female co-pilot pick the color - I change my mind and switch it every couple of weeks.

I'm still trying to learn how to post and have pictures of my car. I'll eventually get the hang of it. I've been one of those NAM members who just reads the posts to get ideas for my MINI, but I was too timid to join in. Well, that's over now, so here I am "warts and all" as the saying goes. Let's go motoring on curvy roads. I loved the Dragon last year. My wife just tolerated the ride trying to hold her lunch down. Hee Hee

My ship should be coming in today <g>...

My MINI should be either unloading today, or tomorrow.
Now it's just a question of whether it can be prepped and transported
in time for me to pick it up next weekend.

I'm starting to think I'll make it for our run to Hawks Nest.

OH... Bucky , I guess you might want to pick up some extra dramamine
for your wife <g>.

Thanks for the good words folks...

I'm keeping calm... and thinking happy thoughts.
MiniEsq, in reply to your reply to Bucky... I'm waiting to hear
from him as to what he's looking for in a new MINI.

Since Jay was a bit flexible on price with me, I'm going to offer
to put in a word with him if Bucky want's me too. May help save
a bit off of MSRP....

OH, and almost forgot. Be on the lookout for a white Clubman
in the Huntington/Barboursville area. Bucky said he saw one
over at Borders Friday night <g>...

GonePostalWV,

What is your plan for the pick up in Cinncy? I've been working 7 days a week at the 'Shoe all winter. So weekdays off are aplenty until we open up for golf. If you want a ride up let me know. (as long as we skip the Skyline Chillie) I need to get my new baby broken in, and you can try out your reworked Knee on the road up!!

Jay is great! I recommend him to everyone!

Wait...a Clumbman in the area??!!?!?!! I may just start cruising the mall parking lot.

Hang in there with the waiting! It won't be long now!! Have you talked to Jay? He's pretty good about giving you updates if you call him....(well, updates when he knows something)

BcSki...

Thanks for the offer...
A friend of mine is planning to take my wife and I over
next Saturday, if it comes in in time. Figure that way
I can take the long way home. (By way of Cleveland <g>)
and work on some of my break in miles that way...

Of course, if towards the latter part of the week it looks
like a delay, I may end up seeing if the offers still good.

(I'm expecting to be released back to work next week, but
if there is a delay in the MINI, I might just have to see if a
couple more days of healing is in order...and go back the
following Tuesday <g> , the 8th.)

If that were to happen, I'd probably give you a call.

Oh, and for anyone browsing this thread, this is one of the
things that makes NAM work.

BcSki only knows me from my posts on the board. Other than
here, I'm a stranger to him. That doesn't matter , though.
He sees a fellow (almost) MINI owner in a bind, and offers to go
out of his way. ( Probably 500 miles out of his way total <g>) to
help.

MINI owners are good people. I'm glad to (almost) be one of them <g>.

MiniEsq...

I've tried not to bother Jay any more than I have to.
Unfortunately, while the cars been on a boat, he's known
less than I have.

Jay's been great so far. I'm much happier dealing with him
than I would have been working with the dealership in NY.

I'm hanging in and trying not to go too Postal <g>. I realize
it won't do me any good stressing out, and the thing will get
here when it gets here.

(I just want it to be NOW !!!!)
Hope your depositions go well for you this week and that your
able to make it on the 13th. I need to call or stop by WVPhoto's
studio and see if he's going to be able to join us.

Plus email some others that got back to my mass emailing the
other day...

GonePostal,
No problem on being the back up. I have a run with the DDMM's on the 6th.
And will be back that evening... Other than that I can pretty much take off the days I want. (there are some perks to being a workaholic... I somehow never seem to take my 2 weeks vacation or 3 weeks of PTO though...) Keep us posted!!

Bucky,
The new minis are great. I went from an 02 to the new one and love it. I got $12,000 with 69,000 miles for a trade...

MiniEsq, you didnt happen to be going towards charleston saturday morning did you? I saw a MINI on the interstate near 29th st. Looked like yours, but I didn't get a good look at it. I waved, but I was in a BMW going in the opposite direction at 75mph. so i doubt you or whoever it was noticed.

That must've been me! I was heading out that way shortly after 10am. I'm sorry I didn't see you....I probably would've if you'd been in your Mini.

When are you getting your Mini back?
