Another WV MINI here...i have an 04 mcs. Huntington area...Barboursville to be precise. Graduate from Marshall '07 and current Marshall Graduate College student. Definitely up for any type of meets and/or trips that we can get planned together. I have only seen a handful of MINIs in the area...mostly on the interstate, so most of them are probably passing through, and not locals. I basically stick to the I64 corridor from Huntington to Charleston for work and class...so if any of you ever run across me...I wave back!

keep an eye out for me and the MINI below...

Welcome aboard

I'm surprised I've not seen you on I64 , but we could just be on there
different times of day <g>.

I'll be working harder contacting everyone to try to set up an informal
get together hopefully the first of April or so. (I'd like to have my Mini
first, but that's not a requirement .)

I'll be out of circulation for about 2 weeks waiting for my knee to heal
up following tomorrows surgery, but will be on the net quite a bit, so
I'll look for you online.

In case you've missed it in previous posts... if you see any other Mini's
and there owners... spread the word about our little group.

The more we can make aware of NAM and the other local Mini owners,
the better our chances for folks to run with on the twisty's <g>.

Again, good to meet you , and GO HERD...

Hi! I'm in Huntington too!!! I can't believe I haven't seen you around. I'll keep an eye out, though....we need more Mini wavers around Huntington!!

For being a WV group, we seem to be mostly Marshall fans!! I'm lovin' it!! (and we're definitely going to have to pick a game a tailgate next fall!)

If we could get a drive scheduled before mid May that would be great. Being in Snowshoe, I can head north or south easily enough...

Before Mid May would be great.

I survived my knee 'scope, so I'll have the next couple of weeks to plan
either a run or "meet". I'll play around on mapquest and try to find a
good "compromise" loop as convenient as possible for everybody .

BCski... I know you have problems getting weekends off, but what are
the odds of a Sunday towards the end of April or first of May?

Same goes for everyone else. Would that be a good time for a first run?

I'll be semi mobile I think by the first of next week if any locals would like
to get together for a quick hello/lunch/planning session.

My follow up with the Knee specialist is in two weeks, and I doubt I'll be back
to work until at least the second week of April. Hopefully I'll have my Mini
by then , and will be healed enough to enjoy it .

I have weekends free from April 1st to 18th. Then April 28th to May 11th. I open the golf course on the 12th, and am running on limited staff until early June. After that I can slide out for the occasional sunday runs.

Again, I can beat feet out of snowshoe by 6-7 a.m. and meet up wherever...

I can't believe that I haven't seen any of you guys either....but its just a matter of time, im sure! As for meeting, I'm off every weekend, and definitely up for a tailgate sometime this fall.

Also, not sure if you guys are aware/interested. there are a couple WV car forums online that i frequent along with NAM. Theyre not MINI only people, but car enthusiasts nonetheless. good way to find out about races/meets/car shows etc. www.wvstreets.com is one, and www.wvmotorpsorts.com is the other, most ppl that are on one site, are also on the other lol.

Unless something comes up, I'm free every weekend in April and May....except the first weekend in April. And I'll probably be at autocross in Charleston (although I don't think I'll be driving) on April 20 and May 18. I probably can't make it to Charleston next week for lunch, though....but definitely keep me posted.

I've left notes on a couple of Minis around Huntington but no one has responded yet. I noticed there is a list of Mini owners by state on the Mini Owners lounge too. When I get some time this evening or this weekend, I'm going to try to figure out if there is a way to send messages to everyone on there too.

GonePostal - Glad to hear that you survived the knee scope. I'm sure a little Mini physical therapy is just what you need. Any more news on when it will be arriving?

BTW, I know there is a group of Audi TTs heading to Snowshoe for the weekend on July 25-27. You might want to keep an eye out for them - good guys and girls and I hear they might be interested in golfing. Also, it looks like I'll be there with them....most likely with my Mini....so I'll keep an eye out for you.

No idea on my Mini

You've managed to catch me in a Disgruntled mood .

So far I'm not able to find out much of anything regarding my ship,
other than it's looking more and more that it will be over 2 weeks
between production and even getting on a boat.

I'm pretty much at a low as far as my Mini excitement goes right now.
Hopefully I'll hear something and will cheer up about it.

Right now I'm guessing MAYBE the 2nd week of April, instead of the
first. If that's the case, I'll have to use up vacation time to go get it.

That wasn't part of the plan... but I'll do what I have to do <g>.

MiniEsq,

i see that there is a mtn bike race that weekend, are you coming up to ride?

let me know if any of the group want to golf and when. I'll put in the tee times and give you a good price for the rounds!! if you are going out for a drive perhaps I could tag along if you don't mind.

Hey WV - Pittsburgh calling... We're not that far up the 'pike and would love to join up clubs for some regional events (you host or we will). We've got a huge following for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix this summer, and will likely also have Gyminikhana II this fall (1.5 days of Mini shows, driver's ed events, and rally/poker run type stuff in October at BeaveRun). We have our annual meeting in the September/October area and will likely head for Morgantown area this year (we went North last year). In addition to those "main" events we have a large group heading to MOTD, and have monthly events as well. We'd like to think we're worth the trip, check our website at www.pittstopmini.org... Let us know what you've got going on and we'll either participate or help out somehow. Pittsburgh out...

No, I'm not coming for the mountain bikes. It's called TT East - it's an event through AudiWorld. I know they've announced the dates and someone guessed the location but I think they're still finalizing the contracts. It's a bunch of Audi TTs. I'll pass along the information on the golf - I'm sure they'd appreciate it. There will definitely be driving - I know there is an autocross planned and some drives. I don't know yet if I'm just going to be riding along with my boyfriend (who has a TT) or maybe be in my Mini on the drives. I'll let you know when I know more.

DixonL2...

On behalf of the others on this thread, thanks for the invite <g>.

If you've followed our postings so far, you've seen we're in the infant
stages of development , but with luck will have a club to be proud of
sometime soon.

(Even though we've only met each other by email and Nam, and some of us
don't have our Mini's yet we're still becoming good friends .)

Something I'd like for us to be able to do somewhere down the road would
be to hook up with the other regional clubs in our area.

Possibly even offer our mountains for a regional get together. I could see
groups of Mini's from Pittsburgh, the Carolinas, Ohio , Virginia etc; getting
together and hitting the twisty's in the South Central part of the state for
a weekend. Maybe some white water rafting , skiing, or what have you,
depending on the time of year.

Not having a Mini dealership, and being smack dab in the middle of a half
dozen states that do make us a bit unique.

I personally have been monitoring the other club boards trying to plan
"Mini" vacations to see what the other areas have to offer.

I enjoy visiting Pittsburgh when I can... matter of fact, almost purchased
my Mini there... Graham's a great fellow to work with, even though it was
just via email and the phone. Came down to price and my gut. Had a good
relationship built with Jay in Cincy and ended up buying there.

If my car ever shows up, I'll try to head up your way for a weekend.
Maybe I can bring a little caravan of Mountain Mini's with me.

Look forward to meeting you all, and thanks for dropping in to the thread.

Thanks for the invite!! I am only about 3.5 hours away, so I may have to join up with you all for some Pittsburgh events. I joined the DCMM club and am heading up for a run on the 6th of April, and plan on the Va Beach get together in June. (my family will think it is to visit them though...)

GonePosatalWV, along with my job at Snowshoe, I have a connection at ACE Adventure. One of the bigger rafting companies. In fact I am having some of my ski school and golf staff over tonight. I will let him know we will be hitting him up for a "deal" this fall...

Sounds good BCski...

Assuming my bodies up to it <g>...

Between the knee and ankle scopes the past couple of years, and
other various health issues I'm not sure a raft would be that great
of an idea for me personally.

(Love the idea though. Just think my various doctors would probably
raise an objection. Of course, that's assuming I'd tell them I'm going <g>.)

COMPLETELY appreciate that y'all are in "formation stage" - want to make sure you know you've got supportive neighbors to the North!

We're actually hoping to have our "Fall Foliage Drive" - which generally occurs before the leaves turn - to the South, so we can all get to know each other. Maybe even have a "group start" and WV motoring route to get to the final destination. We usually have ~90 people at that event.

Hope to meet you at some event somewhere, and if anyone's headed for the Dragon, see you there!

I'd LOVE to plan something with rafting!! I've done the New River twice and the Gauley once and I love it! GonePostal - unfortunately, you may be right about your ankles and knees....rafting can be pretty rough on both. But it might be worth a few days of pain...

Thanks for the support! (says the Bartels and James girl.... ) It would be great if we could all meet up for a Fall Foliage Drive!

Not the ankles and knees that worry me...

Not to go into too much detail... but it's more the heart attack
last year, and the 20% kidney function currently <g> that's my
main concern....

(Hearts fine btw.... but figure I"m due for dialisys sometime in
the next several years. Would be concerned about taking a
"hit" on either kidney which could lead to further loss of function.)

I'm in great shape, for the shape Im in <g>.

Wow.....well, I'm glad you're fine now. Another "hit" on the kidney would be bad so definitely avoid rafting....boxing.....wrestling....football.....fu ll contact anything, really. Aren't you glad Minis are so safe?

Yes , I'm optimistic my Mini will take care of me <g>..

and I probably came across that I'm falling apart.

In reality , my health issues are minor. It just sounds worse
than it really is. Had a heart issue in July. For three days they
said I had a cardiac "event". Finally said mild MI with no damage.
So heart should be able to handle about anything.

Kidneys are a heriditary disease (PKD). As my nephrologist said,
if your going to pick a kidney disease, pick mine. Doesn't affect
me hardly at all, just episodes of moderate to severe pain. I'm used
to it... so mostly ignore it and keep Motoring <g>. Eventually will
lose function to the point of needing a transplant, but that could be
20 years down the road, or tomorrow.

I make it a point not to let it worry me... just tend to be a little more
cautious than I used to. (Example: wanted to take a class on Medievel
weaponry ie; Western Martial arts. Talked myself out of it due to likelihood
of a hard impact to the flank.) (Think Ren Fair sword fighting)

Would have been a blast, but not worth the risk.

Knees and ankles are an occupational hazard <g>.
