Which Auto Mag?

I just got a gift subscription along with my new MINI, which is best from a MINI POV?

Automobile
Car & Driver
Motor Trend
Road & Track

These are my only car choices, but I also have subscribed to MC2

I would get Automobile. I think they have better write-ups and more interesting articles than the others.

I've been getting MC2 and noticed my local bookstore also stocks a British magazine New MINI.

http://www.newmini.org/

Of those on your list, I would pick Automobile, though I am of the feeling that Automobile isn't what it used to be.

I like Automobile and Car and Driver a lot. Can't go wrong with either. Do NOT get Motor Trend!

The quality of the writing in Automobile is far superior, IMHO. Hell, they are all talking about basically the same cars eacch month, so writing is waht it's all about.

Thanks guys. I threw Motor Trend in there because it's on the list, but to me it seems like a shill for Detroit. It feels like the PR guys at Ford and GM write the articles.

What no love for Autoweek for the weekly fix? EDIT: sorry noticed it wasn't on your list, my bad.

I like Road & Track too, but any news is usually old news by the time R&T hits my mailbox.

Road & Track. Informative, and worth it just for Peter Egan's writing. Well balanced, and often humorous.

If I want up to the minute news, there is no magazine that can provide it. That's what the net is for.

Also not on the list is Winding Road... Worth a look if you haven't seen it.

+1

Here's my list of car mags in no particular order.

C&D
R&T
Automobile
Sports Car International

EDIT >>> I'm a long time Autoweek subscriber too. It's dirt cheap & good for a 10 minute read.

Motor Trend... NEVER!!!

R&T is worth it just for Peter Egan.

I like Car and Driver. Automobile used to be a more intelligent and well-mannered publication than the others (their editor's column was titled Cogito Ergo Zoom for cryin' out loud). I stopped subscribing because I liked Car and Driver's humorous take on econo cars, streetsweepers, etc.

I think I pay about $10 a year for my subscription to C/D so it's almost free even if you don't get it as a gift. Maybe take a chance on Automobile since it's free.

Too bad no one's throwing a Top Gear subscription at you. That thing a beautiful combination of Car and Driver's humor, a driving POV like Sports Car International and the photography of a fashion magazine. I love reading it for free at the book store, but can't justify an $85 subscription.

C&D did a street-sweeper test? Bah!

Road & Track has tested the Goodyear Blimp, the Space Shuttle transporter, a P-51 Mustang, the Cyclops, and more off the wall stuff than I can count!

I get C/D, R/T[because of Peter Eagan] and AutoWeek. AW gives you the most updated info as it comes every week, but than it's not on your list.

Of the list I'd say go with Automobile

Ones worth your own penny,
Grassroots Motor Sports
Top Gear
AutoWeek was ok, 50/50 if I'd read the whole thing though, but they are responsible for supplying some preliminary MINI info for me that got me really researching.
And ANY issue you can find of GoMINIGo (not longer printed) is well worth it
