If everyone is agreeable I'll leave the thread open so it can continue about the bikes or, as an alternative I can delete all the stuff on the driving side, rename the thread to focus on the bikes and move it to an appropriate forum.

Thanks

I admit. I'm guilty of posting about aggressive driving and excessive speed. It absolutely was not a race but can see how my words would give that perception. My bad, it won't happen again. Do what you got to do Mark. Terry

Scott, if you are serious about a desmoquattro, make sure the cam contact points on the rocker arms aren't flaking the chrome and the cush drive bushings aren't failing on the rear hub. Both conditions can cost a lot of money if not caught in time. Kudos on the old "D" tat and thanks for your military service.

Coolingfin, that's one sharp sport tourer. I hear you about the small track bikes. My only track bike left is an NSR50. I don't think you can race any cheaper without going to a pocket bike which at 40 I don't contort to very well. And it's made from HRC with some trick stuff right from the factory. Liquid cooled, 6-speed, disc brakes, race-compound tires, and fully adjustable suspension. It's as fun as the big bikes....maybe more. A pic of it from last year when I bought it, still in the crate, for $1999 at Stubbs Cycle in Houston. Half of what they listed for.

Hey Deviant....about the brit bikes, another alternative is the GB500 Tourist Trophy by Honda. Beautiful 60's looking racer without the finicky-ness of the 60's era bikes. I'd love to have one but they only imported them a couple of years and are a little tough to track down. They do hold their value though. >

I noticed someone ditched the sig of a cop chasing them in their mini.

This is just so warm and fuzzy. I like seeing a "problem thread" survive the black hole.

Yeah, but why have that one when you can have the real thing? This one is a real Triumph, risen from the ashes just like the MINI of today. 2006 Triumph Bonneville T 100, still a carburated bike, but reliable every start, which is now, by the way, accomplished by pushing a button!

Dang it... now I'll have to get into cool motorcycles so I can brag about dissing 'Vettes.

What's it like riding in traffic amongst people who can't drive? And do you ride the white dashed lines like they do in California?

What's it like? Well, you have to pay attention the whole time. However, when you do have someone drift into your lane, you do have a lot more room to manuver and generally faster brakes and quicker throttle response than in any car. Of course, there is less mass to be slowed down or sped up, so the laws of physics are on your side. Do I ride the white dashed lines? Never. Do I diss 'Vettes? Not generally, unless they are pestering me, which is dangerous for me, because I am the one that stands to be run over by cars if I get crashed out. I have been known to make one dust me so that it goes away and I can ride in peace. But I don't try to make anyone else wreck their car. (I have had faster bikes that COULD dust 'Vettes, btw, and hubby has one- a Kawi - in the garage that I am free to ride at any time that will do so handily). But I don't ride that one very often; it's a girl and I know it; she's a (insert proper term for a female canine). That bike is unbalanced! Bi-polar! Plss her off and she'll throw you instantly!

This thread has evolved somewhat. Has anybody that is now talking about Bikes said anything about dissing cars? I'm not (generally) for the sort of driving mentioned at the top of the thread, but any thread that talks about bikes- I'm all on it. I love them - ESPECIALLY my Triumph. Which is, long sigh, for sale, should anyone want it. Take it, mod the hell out of it, and enjoy it. I have to have transport that can include a little one, and modding the Bonnie to have a booster seat strapped to the back is NOT on the list...

History lesson time: Triumph made bikes in Britain about the same time MINI made MINIs. They are the motorcycle equivelent. They've been brought back and have a fantastic product line now. If I could buy any bikes I'd of course have my Bonnie, and I would also get a Speed Triple and a Daytona. Not that I'd ever get to ride them at this point in my life. Sigh... But no doubt they will still make them or I will be able to find one if I should want one later!
