How long from "on order" to "scheduled for production"?

OK I admit it ... I have the fever ... a really bad case I am afraid ...

I ordered my car 11/11/2007 got the production number on 11/12/2007 ... so ... how long is the typical wait from "on order" to "scheduled for production" ... and when "scheduled" do you at that point know/learn what your build week actually is? And does it take more than a week for the build or is that how long it takes???

Can you tell just how bad my sickness really is?? impatient:impatient

I was told by the dealer it was typically 6-8 weeks from order to delivery which seems reasonable to me ... too long for my disposition, but reasonable.

I ordered MCS 2007 - BRG with whilte top/stripes, Tuscan leather, Premium, Sport, Convenience, Cold packages and the 10 speaker Hi-Fi

Speaking in gross generalities...

From production # to build: anything from 1 day (me!) to a few weeks. It all depends on your dealership's order numbers and how they're scheduled for the factory. (Some dealerships have already filled their 2007 quotas and only have Order Numbers for 08 builds.)

From Build to Southampton: about 4 days.

From Southampton to freighter: depends on when the next boat shows up. For most it would seem to be less-than-a-week. For some it's many weeks or more than a month (indicating a problem with the auto).

The trip across the ocean takes about 11 days (for delivery on the east coast) or 21 days (for west coasters such as me).

From the VDC to your dealership is about a week-and-a-half. Your dealer may have it for a few days as they mount accessories.

There are boatloads of posts in the "1st Gear" forum if you want to get other folks' opinions and experiences.

Congrats on the order and good luck with the delivery! Welcome to NAM!

Thanks for the reply .. I should have posted in 1st Gear

I had asked my dealer about his quota and he indicated he had plenty at this point so HOPEFULLY that won't hold me up.

I appreciate the detailed info ...

I placed my order on 11/7 for a 07 build. My MA took my email address and said i would receive info from MINI during the build process. I still don't have a production # so if decide not to bug my MA, when will MINI send me any build info?

Bug your MA because they are suppose to provide it for you.

Hassel your MA!

drewster ... I DID get my production number in an email from MINIUSA.com on the Monday following my Saturday order ... and then I got a 2nd email from them that invited me to the Owner's Lounge stuff ... so I'd agree ... hassel your MA ( we used to call those guys SALESMEN ... guess Motoring Advisor is more British and carries less of a negative connotation).

Great Job
If its in the paint shop, it is clear you should have got that production number a lot earlier than that. BAD MA...BAD MA!!

Sometimes you really have to be proactive with things if its in your best interest.

my experiance:

Production number to build = 1 day

build time = 1 week

at port = 2 days

cross pond = 2 weeks

at ditribution center = 2 months and counting

still have not taken delivery, and I no longer want the car. Horrible experiance, **** poor communication - very upsetting.

Oh yeah, good luck

sorry, just read my own post and saw the anger glaring out at me - ashamed of it. East coast - dealer is just saying their hands are tied. I have other threads on this, don't want to highjack this one.

your car design looks real nice - I hope its yours in a matter of weeks.

Called ASK-MINI ...

Ok it has only been 6 days from order but ... well you KNOW how it is ... so I called 866-ASK-MINI and they happily informed me that it was supposed to go into production 11/16 ( that would be today!!) and is supposed to be complete on 11/22 ... so if I did the numbers right and the stars and planets actually DO align just right .... about 4 weeks after 11/22 it "should" at least be close to home .. which COULD ... best case possible ... get it here by Christmas ... that would be a very nice Christmas present indeed!

BTW ... it's BRG with White top/stripes, sunroof and tan leather and gonna live in San Antonio (well just North of San Antonio) ... so ... picture in your mind a "Margarita with salt on the rim" ... and you can see why I believe I'll call her "MiniRita"

You sound like a Production week 47 person. Do you know? ask mini rep should have told you. Someone created a "Production week 47" post there in "1st gear" section. Introduce yourself there, I think he/she is the only one so far.
