We like our Indi Blue and besides it was the first MINI we were allowed to drive. After that the rest just followed me home.

How do you put a pic on the screen without uploading it as an attachment?

Hyper Blue....

It needs to be hosted some where. I use Photobucket, it's free.

Yes that also works.

I find it easier to use Photobucket. I like that there is no limit to how many photos I can store there.

Does the picture stay on NAM as long as you keep it in your Photobucket album? Also when you delete it from Photobucket is that when all that we see here is just an (x)?

Yes that is correct. If you delete it from Photobucket the link is broken & you'll get the little red x.

I just don't get it. Why does MINI keep discontinuing certain colors? I'd love to get my base R55 in a different color but it's no longer available. Is there like, not enough space at Cowley that they can't store the extra paint or something like that? Also, why do they insist upon having one or two colors available only on turbocharged models but not for base models? Doesn't make much sense either.

Well, it certainly keeps people clamoring for more, doesn't it? They tease with these colors, I think. I suspect they definitely have a marketing ploy going on here....

I like that they swap out colors frequently, it makes it easier to keep MINIs unique and keeps the lineup changing a bit.
Why some are Cooper or S only colors, I don't know, maybe something to do with packaging availability or just to keep it interesting.

I think some colors are probably discontinued because they don't sell very well, even though there are always some people for whom it's their favorite color. Likewise, if you don't have many changes to a car from one year to the next, a new color or two is a nice way to keep things fresh, (kind of like the "Bold New Graphics!" sales blurb with sport motorcycles when there are no significant changes from last year's model).

Also, the factory likes to be able to paint a large batch of cars the same color to minimize the time spent cleaning and reloading the paint equipment between colors. MINI already has more colors available than most brands, but if they were to continue to offer every color that's ever been discontinued, they'd either have to go with smaller batches through the paint booth, or wait around longer to let a sufficient number of cars accumulate before painting them.

I can understand having certain colors only available on the 'S' model, or only available on the convertible, from a "premium/limited availability" standpoint. What confuses me are the colors that are *only* available on the base model and not on the premium models.

Keep in mind that while Cooper is the base model in the US, in Europe it's a step up over the MINI One.

Solid Gold is #1 in my book!

Still haven't seen "Rootbeer" someone mentioned early on!

I was just gonna post that, but you beat me by about a month. When I was picking up my car, few days ago, dealer told me that I got their last Astro black and they won't be making them anymore.

Maybe they're holding their breath that MINI will replace it with a proper black (i.e. not metallic and not blue).

Isn't "midnight black" a "proper" black? I haven't seen one in person yet.
