The Italian Job weekend... for me!

Since this is a holiday weekend for me, I decided to watch The Italian Job again. Maybe find something in the movie I may have missed.

I think everyone else should do the same

I've enjoyed the re-make numerous times. I still haven't seen the original!

The original was kind of boring....BUT they showed the minis a lot more than the remake and they had them do a lot more rugged stuff as well.

Being a veteran myself, I'll be looking for "Full Metal Jacket" on TV. I can hear and see it now, Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For Walking" and the classic line "OH me so horny!".

I wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be when I first watched it (I'm talkin' 'bout the remake here.), but I wasn't truly a POOM then. Maybe I should give it another go.

Sndwave...pick up Full Metal Jacket on DVD. I got it for under $10 and it should be on sale a bunch of places this weekend.

I sort of watched the TIJ remake on TV this week. I saw a few things I'd forgotten, mostly MINI mistakes. Pepper White with a real white roof. The Indy Blue MINI with white roof but blue mirror caps. Silly things like that, that only the people who were seriously into MINIs before the movie was released either noticed or cared about.

I've enjoyed and own both the original and the remake. I think they're both good in there own right. I have to admit that the original holds a special memory for me. My father and I used stay up and watch the late show once or twice a week during summer break when I was a teenager back in the seventies. This is when I first saw this movie.

Love 'em both! Started watching the remake again last night ( I was ready for MY weekend early!! ).

In the original, aside from the horrific, tear-jerking annihilation of the 3 loyal, faithful Minis, the ending scene with the gold, the van, and the song is just classic! "This is the self-preservation society. . ." Ha!

Do it. Despite the somewhat forgettable dialog, Charlize Theron alone is more than enough to keep my attention between the Mini/MINI action scenes.

You do know that there are other movies, right?

Goodbye Pork Pie - Two lead characters drive a stolen yellow mini the full length of New Zealand. Parts of the car are sold off to help fund the journey.

A Room for Romeo Brass - A matt army-green mini van is the main transport of a key character.

An Everlasting Piece - A red mini clubman estate is the main transport of a key character.

Once Upon A Time in the Midlands - A four-door stretched limo mini has a short feature, as well as a yellow mini on the roof of a car service center.

The Bourne Identity - A very normal red mini, with one black wing is the main transport of a key character. Features several interior shots, and a chase scene with spectacular driving. It is eventually abandoned.

Austin Powers in Goldmember - Austin's Father's spy car is a blue MINI™ with union-jack roof.

I am definitely going to have to pull out my copy of the remake and watch it this weekend. I have watched it many times and it really never gets old. I think I need to get a giant sewer pipe for my driveway so I can park inside of it.

It's a must to have this DVD at home for Mini enthusiasts like us. I have the new one but not the old/first version. I watch it more often when my MCS is stored during winter months.

I've got the original version, along with the remake and also a special "making of the original" video which I haven't had a chance to watch. One of these weekends I'll pop in all three and make a day out of it.

Amazon, here I come! Goodbye Pork Pie sounds unique!

Hey the actress in the movie said they had the modify the classic mini for her because she was too tall. What is the the maximum height for that old mini car in terms of leg room?

Maybe they wanted her to look a certain way in front of the camera. They probably didn't want her to sit up on the steering wheel.

lol maybe. the mini in the movie was probably a manual so she probably did need more room. the pedals are really close together.

When they made these classic cars did they ever take into consideration the size of the drivers???
