Vegetable oil powered MINI?

Anyone have any idea about the conversion kit mentioned in the article?

Where to buy one?

Cost?

How to install it?

Diesel engines...yep "biodiesel" it's a great, real alternative.

There is an article in the latest Playboy (Which I only get for the arcticles). It has a real good writeup on 2 or three companies that do this. One guy that owns a conversion co. has an old austin mini converted to run on veggie fuel (with a Peugot diesel engine),not the same one in the google article found above. The author of the article even did this conversion on two old mercedes diesels. I would love to do this. Even search for old mercedes on ebay, and you will find many already converted, or the seller will even convert for you. The kit seems to run around $1000. Not too bad IMO. The band Korn is even coming out with their own biofuel called Korntastic

We have a customer with a diesel VW for a daily driver that he runs on biodiesel. My understanding is he has a kit with a small secondary fuel tank, he kept the main tank, but added an in-line heater.

He fills the small secondary tank with diesel, and the purpose of this is for startup and shutdown. He loads the main tank with veggie oil, and once it gets up to temp in the lines (thus the in-line heater) he flips a switch and it starts fueling the veggie oil.

Personally, I've half kept an eye open for an old TDI or turbo diesel mercedes for really cheap (like less than 1K) because I really want to just dumping stuff in it to see what it'll do.
