MOCD Support Group

Hi,

I have a bad case of MOCD (MINI Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and I still have yet to take delivery of my MINI. Heaven help me when I do

So, there seem to be Official Support groups for other things, how about one for MOCD. I've already witnessed some cases more severe than my own.

Anyone else feel the need to 'confess' and be open about their MINI "disorder".

Hello, My name is Gary, I have MOCD. :impatient

If I was able to view the progress of the ship ISOLDE on www.aiswx.com I would be checking it every six hours (since that is the how often ships seem to report their position).

Yes, I'll admit to taking screen captures of the ship for five hours or so before it got to Southampton and roughly the same amount of time until it went off from aisfree

I have MOCD bad.....just ask my wife, no don't ask her, I'm driving her crazy enough as it is!

EDIT: I think I'm one of the people Unixgal referred to when she said she has seen others have MOCD worse than her.

It'll probably get you soon...watch out, it will sneak up on you, especially once your Mini goes into production.

So I have called askmini 3 times today already. I want to know where my mini is. What I am wondering is, will I be this obsessive even after I have her in my possession? Am I going to allow someone, whom I believe to smell a little funny, to sit in her? I am also a dog person and I am trading in the car that I cart my two big hound mix dogs around in, am I going to want to let my pups in my mini? I love my dogs but is my MOCD too great?

Wow. I am really getting into this forum.

I suspect it will carry over. Unixgal made the same comment and my reply was probably, you'll want to keep it clean . Another difficult choice, to allow eating in the Mini. You know you are inevitably going drop or spill something.

Dogs. Yes, that may be interesting depending on your seat choice. You should be able to fold down the back seats and they will probably be fine back there (our two dogs haven't caused a problem in my wife's R53). I too am concerned about them though with my new Mini, I ordered the punch leather carbon seats and someone else made a comment online that that isn't a good choice with dogs. I'm starting to think I should have spent the extra 400 and got the lounge leather. I could have went with a different rim choice and had the cost be the same with the lounge leather.

So...with that in mind, I'll probably limit them from riding in the front seat.

Oh, if you haven't read it yet, I'd recommend reading through the Detailing 101 forum here on NAM. There is a great sticky https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=37303 that was posted by agranger on how to keep your Mini showroom fresh.

I've already ordered the Zaino product line (their complete package) and most of the 303 product line. I should have both orders by the end of next week.

Well ya know...

MOCD does not go away, it morphs into OCD (full fledged detailing complex).

As for dogs, my Golden thinks I don't love her anymore. I took delivery on June 13th, I will have to break down this week and give her a ride with the back seats folded down and a couple of horse blankets spread.

My MA said the MINI black interior material in the boot really sticks dog hair. So more stuff to buy from DP on my next visit or online order. They had the super large dog hair stickies at the store. More time to spend detailing the interior a couple of times a week. Between MOCD, OCD, modding, NAM addiction and all things associated with the MINI, well you get the picture.

So, it does not get better, just more intense

When you get your MINI, enjoy it.

Well, at least I know what to expect now. I will check out the detailing forum although I don't know if feeding the obsession is healthy. I plan to let my dogs only ride in the back. If you get the boot box that comes with the sturdy lid, you can put the seats down and actually have a flat surface back there. If I cover it with a nice rug or something, I should be able to keep it protected. Then I plan on letting the mini dealer give my car a complete detail every 6 months or so.

Just got back from the dealership. Yes, it's open today on the July 4th holiday. My husband's bothers girlfriend was taking delivery of her new Mini today. Her salesman, Simon @ Checkered Flag in Virginia Beach, was going over all the features when we arrived. We all stood around talking and checking out the showroom. I ended up changing my order just a bit. I changed out the back orange lights to white. Another $100 spent. I haven't even seen this option on any Minis in our area yet. I've been in limbo about keeping my front rally lights also. I've decided to keep them as ordered. I really do like the way they set the car off. The one in the dealership close to my wants doesn't have the white stripes as I ordered on the bonnet. I was starting to think that my car will look too busy with all these extras, plus the cost of the lights being outerageous. Well I'm keeping them.

It made my day to have a little Mini break while waiting for info on my car. I was told that it should go into production next week. So I guess I'll be joining you all here and we can all play the waiting game as a group.

Dang Gone It! Now I've got MOCD too.

Yes, it does. Welcome to the group Alpha Motoring, old81, and Mini S Pilot. I think old81 is right, it will probably keep developing further.

Oh, and thanks for the idea about the boot box, I didn't realize it gave a flat surface. I think my pooches would like that better (they have had some experience in our '05 MCSa) and it would help with the dog hair.

Happy 4th of July to all!

I used to watch too much TV. Now I spend too much time reading NAM forums and trying to find some other tiny piece of information on the whereabouts of my mini. I don't even have my first mini yet and I am already thinking about what I am going to want on my second.

The day I ordered her, there was a woman in the showroom picking up her first mini and she was ogleing (sp?) a convertible on the floor and started mumbling about how she wanted to upgrade to a convertible already. I remember thinking that she was crazy but I get it now. This is crazy!

You do catch the bug, which is exactly why I'm not satisfied with occasionally driving my wife's R53.

I'd imagine she is probably already wanting to trade hers in a newer one since I ordered more bells and whistles than she has, but then we got hers used (it was a great deal though). It was six months old and had 2,000 miles on it.

I DEFINATELY think I have MOCD!!! :impatient I too, am awaiting the delivery of my first Mini. What makes it SO SO bad, is that I am to take THE most important test of my life in 5 days (the NAPLEX - Pharmacist's Licensure), and it is SO hard to even study. I'm muscling through it, but there's nothing more I want to do than find out all I can about these little cars. UGH!!! I'll let everyone know if I come across a treatment for MOCD in the midst of my studies! Good luck everyone!

Welcome to the support group! Yes, it does make finding time to do things that you should be doing more difficult because you are here posting and researching about your Mini.

Umm...if you're taking your test to get your pharmicist license I would think you'd be able to come up with some good ideas on drugs that might work, but then that would probably just dull the whole experience and it wouldn't be as much fun . It might make the waiting a little bit easier though!

Has your Mini started production yet?

EDIT: Ah hah, now I see it in your sig, your in week 27, if you haven't been able to find out your ship name you may want to take a look at the week 26 support group, page 7 posts 155-157 for tips on how to find it eventually.

Yes... completed production on 7/3 and awaiting transport. Still nothing showing up on the shipping website, but I'm watching!!! And, yes you would think I would know a treatment, but the intricacies of this disease are still boggling the minds of researchers around the world.

Yes, I guess it is . Hopefully your baby will make it onto a WW ship, it will be faster to find out the info on it. Do you know what VDC serves your area, is it Charleston, SC and it gets trucked in?

If it doesn't show up on the WW site http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/cargoTrack.do, the address for NYK is http://www2.nykline.com/home/index.html and the address for K lines is http://www.kline.com. I don't know if you can find out the ship name by following their container tracking link or not. If all else fails, the OL will update with the estimated arrival date once the status changes to En Route. You can then determine the ship name by looking at the shipping schedules and finding out which ship is due to arrive at the port where your VDC is. Once you find out the ship name, you can try to see if they have turned on their weather reporting system. If they have you can track the ship's movement across the Atlantic using www.sailwx.info. If not, you're stuck in limbo again waiting until the ship gets close to land, once it gets close to land you can track it using AISfree.

I think I've probably already posted most of that in your support group topic but I don't know how much of you may have read.

Good luck on your test and let us know if we can assist with your MOCD in any way, sometimes it helps to just talk about it.

Oh, I forgot include this in my previous post. If your Mini gets onto a WW ship, you should be able to find it on the WW site approximately 3 days before the ship is scheduled to depart Southampton.

NYK and K line are actually two different shipping companies. The URL for kline is www.kline.com
