+1. I liked the first one, and actually only saw it at the suggestion of members here.

MINI sponsored activity?

My dealer in Va Beach did the same thing - actually weeks b4 the movie was released - I understood it to be a MINI/movie studio sponsored event as we were also asked for feedback b4 we left the theater.

It WAS amazing to see a gathering of MINI in the first year tho ....

For those that are interested. I found the 2003 version in the $5.00 box at my local Walmart.

Definitely the old one. The acting driving and everything was better.

I thought the new one was a remake of the old one, or American version of the movie but that's not true.

The old one really exposed the classic mini as a very funny and capable car. Mini's are like actors and there's a lot of time dedicated to their show.

The new one to my opinion shows Minis for very limited time versus the old movie. And they play no key role. I'd say I liked the beginning of the movie with boats more then the ending with Minis.

But what I liked in the new one

- no or almost no computer graphics. I was shocked to know the helicopter scene was real - no graphics, no fake helicopter, everything was just made at the scene with no manupulations

- it has very interesting story on its own

If they would not say "let's do this like in "Italian Job"... without this reference I would not even name the movie like this.

I liked extra stuff regarding how the movie was made including mini driving and scenes with minis not included in the movie.

That reference was internal to the film--he said, "We'll do it like the Italian job," which referred back to the original heist of gold bars. Since the Italian job was what started the whole thing in motion, I thought the name was more fitting to the newer one than the original one.

i have seen both, love them both, but very different movies indeed. if i had to give a vote, i would have to go with the 60's and Benny Hill, soooo funny! Most folks today would not get the humor though....

Have the Blu-ray of the 2003 version (often found on sale). Waiting for the Blu-ray of the 1969 version.

I fell in love with the first movie when i was a teenager, way back when. I have seen the 2003 version and thought it was ok. If i had to choose just one it would the original.

Like most posters here I've only seen the newer one but I really can't wait to see the original. I think I'll Netflix it.

I think the original had more of a suspenseful plot. I like the original the best.

Both are very good stories.

I have both of them. They are totaly different stories and both are very good. I got them at Amazon and watched both many times. Well worth having.
