2007 NAM F1 Challenge
I don't mind since I never watch it live anyway. The only drawback is not being about to watch other auto racing that day for fear they'll tell me who won.
Question: I had Rosberg in sixth for France. He finished 9th. Shouldn't I have been credited with 3 points . . . or are points only awarded for finishes within the top six?
For example, if you pick a driver to finish 6 and he finishes 7 . . . are you out of luck?
Thanks

If anyone is trying to get picks in (or make changes) at the last minute, the PickSix site set the cutoff an hour early this week for some reason. Email the Commish, tell him about the discrepancy, and include your picks (or changes).

WOW!!! Look at those scores this week! Or, for those of us who scored in the "normal" range, OUCH! I scored 42 points.....on most weeks that would be pretty good.....but not this time.....
Congrats to you super-human prognosticators!

Same here - I missed one week as well.
Picking some combination of McLarens and Ferraris in the top 4, then filling the next 2 spots with Heidfeld, Kubica, Rosberg or Kovalienen isn't keeping my interest.
I've got a new idea for next year. Instead of picking the first six, let's pick the second six! Positions 7 through 12 allow for a lot more variety than 1 through 6.

Though I feel crazy just writing this, it seems like it was actually less predictable (and the picking more intersting) during the Schumi years. Am I imagining things or is the top 6 more boring now post-M. Schumacher?
I don't think you're imagining it.
On one hand the WDC is undecided but more than ever the finishing order seems determined and locked by the strength of a given car on a given track, assuming of course that the top six will be primarily poplulated by Mclaren, Ferrari, and BMW.
Given this, we could make picks on all three remaining races right now.

Exactly. Someday, when I have too much time on my hands, I'll see how many points you would get if:
1. You picked the top 6 qualifiers to finish in order each race (there's probably at least one person actually doing this), or
2. You picked Hamilton, Alonso, Massa, Kimi, Heidfeld, Kubica in that order for each race (or something like that, I'd have to look at the race results).
It's not so much that the top 6 come from the same small group of drivers that bothers me. It's more that the top 6 are rarely much different than the qualifying top 6. For Spa I based my picks on Alonso, Hamilton and Massa taking each other out at turn 1, just to be different!

Well, as they mentioned in the broadcast this week, the driver's points are team by team all the way down,
Hamilton
Alonso
Kimi
Massa
Nick
Robert
Heikki
Giancarlo
And so on. So it is all the cars, and tihs illustrates it perfectly. Plus the reliability is getting really good for everyone - which makes it less predictable. And, no wet races this year.

The old days when engines scattered and half the field retired would make prognostication tougher than the lottery.
I guess we can't have everything . . . as when attending a GP it sure makes a difference to enjoy a full field for the entire race distance.
Bring on the rain.

I've said it before.....sprinklers! I know it would never work, but I would love it if there were rain-makers at every track (even Bahrain). Set up some sort of a season-long random control to ensure variably wet conditions for some portion of about 1/3 of the races.

The best part (actually second best, after the guaranteed fun wet conditions always provide) would be the utter surprise of it.....no rain clouds rolling in to tip folks off; they'd just have to react to unexpected change. It's gotta be better than the current artificialities like making each driver deal with two different tire compounds some time during every race. It's like one of the Speed commentators said when it started raining in ... I want to say Germany (?) "take all your tire compound and fuel strategy predictions and throw them out the window" and just a few minutes later Markus Winkelhock was leading the race!
Heard an interesting theory today that this is result of the teams all going to the same tire. Eliminate a variable such as that and the hierchy of the individual cars becomes more accute.
I really believe that on paper they make adjustments to the regs to sincerely try and increase competition but who could have seen this coming? I think it is aninteresting theory, to say the least.
