For any of you new to PickSix, it often takes a day (or so) for the points tally to show up at the website.
In the meantime congrats to YellowMiniS who, I believe, pulled a flush (all six picked drivers finished in the top six - worth 10 bonus points) and therefore nets 54 points!!!

I saw that as well, but it's working now...sort of...there's a timer problem at the moment. The PickSix timer is running about 25 hours ahead of the actual race schecule and says you have only about 14 hours or so (as I type) before the cutoff. I sent an email to the Commish and he'll probably fix it soon, but we should probably all get our picks in early just in case. If he fixes the timer you can always go back in and readjust if you like.
I had a good week this time:
10 Alonso F.
6 Raikkonen K.
4 Massa F.
4 Hamilton L.
0 Rosberg N.
4 Heidfeld N.
I'm surprised only 2 of us had Alonso winning, although I can't say I picked him because of some great insight I had. I just didn't think Massa would win for some reason.
I think this season is going to come down to guessing correctly the 2 drivers who will join the Ferraris and McLarens in the top 6 each race.

Huh? What did I do? Oh yeah, I picked the qualifying order. . .
As I was about to click the submit picks button I thought "wait a minute, this looks a lot like the order they qualified in ... hey, it IS the qualifying order ... that's embarassing ... gotta change something ... but what?" In the end, I guess I figured that was pretty much how things stood and couldn't think of anything to change. If only Heidfeld hadn't passed Alonso.....
Anyway, most of the rest you got good scores this week as well, with 4 in the 50s and 2 in the 40s (if I added correctly) - well done all!
By the way, remember "First Time Winner and Darkhorse bonus categories become active after the first three races" so next race there will be two new bonus point categories.

Yeah, we need some crashes and mechanical failures to happen on a regular basis. As it is you pretty much need to pick both Ferraris, both McLarens and both BMWs to have the best chance to score points. There is a high risk if you predict another breaking into the top six.
I like the old F1 game Yahoo UK had. You could choose 2 drivers from the top 3 teams and then 4 drivers from the rest of the field. And you were limited to picking each driver only X number of times during the season. And you had to pick prior to qualifying if I remember correctly. It was a fun challenge with a little more strategy required than Pick Six. Yahoo didn't run it last year, not sure if it is back this year or not.

I don't think we'll see 2 Ferraris, 2 McLarens and 2 BMWs in the top six every week. In fact, I don't really expect to see it happen again this season (knock wood). Besides, if getting close to picking correctly is easy for everybody, outscoring others is still a challenge - it's all relative.
I didn't know there would be such a break between races 3 and 4 but the teams were surely all planning on it as a development break and there may be a few surprises in Spain.....maybe.....

I wouldn't expect Ferrari, McLaren and BMW to fill the top 6 spots in every race, but to maximize your points you have to pick the most likely top-6 drivers. At this point those 3 teams employ them.
I'm not complaining about the contest structure, mind you. It's still difficult to pick the correct positions. Even if you could count on McLaren and Ferrari to fill the top 4 spots (which you cannot), there would 24 possible combinations amongst them.
I would humbly suggest going to a Pick Eight next year, though. Adding the 7th and 8th place finishers to the mix would definitely mix things up.

I agree - I've often wished it was the top eight finishers vice six. Of course, I think that would probably effectively eliminate a couple of the bonus point categories that currently help to stratify things. On the other hand, the Flush and Royal Flush (which I like, if only because of the surprise points they add) could still apply to the top six finishers. Since I like the simplicity of PickSix, I'll make a couple suggestions to the Commish to see if he's ammenable to adjustments. Read the Cenotaph portion of the site to see why I'm doubtful, but it can't hurt to suggest a minor tweak to just the F1 side of things given the nature of F1.
In the meantime, everybody check out this Pick8 site (apparently sponsored by, or perhaps even owned by, Grand Prix Tours) and tell me what you think.

Just for grins I added up the points I would have gotten using their rules and my PickSix picks for the first three races. I ended up with 90 points which would have put me in a tie for 80th place out of 5474 contestants. That includes quite a handicap considering I used only six picks per race and it's Pick8, but gives you an idea of competitiveness (challenge) since even my handicapped 80th place would have been in the top 1.5%.
I think I'll play along at Pick8 (in addition to PickSix) for the rest of the season just to see how it works. I didn't notice anything that allowed any sort of group affiliation, but I guess that isn't everything. There's no hope at this point of doing well overall, but you can start at any time and I think they give prizes for points winners after every race.....

I tried reading, but couldn't find anywhere if we're allowed to modify our picks once they're submitted....<edit> Yes you can.
Don't forget - the British GP is this weekend as F1 goes back-to-back again.
