Disabling DRL for track day

I tried to search and find this so if it has already been covered I apologize to those that live out here and don't ever want to read the same thing twice.

I have a track day coming up, first one in the Mini. I typically tape the headlights but I don't see a way to disable the daytime running lights (this makes the tape all gooie). How are people turning them off on the track?

I've run with blue painter tape and have never had a problem with DRL's

Or you could unplug the harness at the headlights and use your normal tape.

Are you not allowed to have any headlights on? Or is this just a courtesy thing? No one said anything to me about my DRLs at the last PDE.

The friend that got me going to track days always taped his lights. I'm assuming so that they don't get broken as easily or as a courtesy in case you do break one glass doesnt go all over the track.

I was concerned that taping them with the DRLs on would result in a gooey mess when I tried to take the tape off but it sounds like others tape them with them on and don't have a problem.

I have the xpel clear protection on mine, so hopefully that's enough to cover me for any potential (crosses fingers) breakage. I was just hoping that the actual lights didn't have to be turned off.

I have 3M clear guard on my lights and this was good enough to pass tech in a recent NASA event.
