Phil Wicks MINI Cooper North American Champhionship

Just heard it on White Roof Radio #18.

5 classes
  • Showroom Stock MINI Cooper
  • Mod MINI Cooper
  • SS MCS
  • Mod MCS
  • Unlimited
SS class are limited to air cleaner mods/CAI, Cat Back Exhaust, shocks, coil overs, NO CAMBER PLATES. Brake pads, Lines, and Fluid only. Requires a roll hoop or cage. 5 or 6 point harness. must have a fire extinquisher on board. Not necessarily a system. SSM MCS can change to after market/ NON RACE disks and calipers

Mod MC allows up to 135 BHP measured on the Dyno at the track.

Mod MCS is equivalent to John Cooper Challenge

Unlimited is a tuners delight. Run what you brung and pray you brought enough.

They want to eventually be a support race for the USGP at Indy.

Kits are being developed to be installed on new cars or mod it your self. Requires a SCCA or equavelnt license. OR Complete a Phil Wicks Driving Academy or simmilar event Porche, BMW, SCCA... experience

There is also a strong possibility that there will be a race at AMVIV 3 in Las Vegas in March.

Any special plans for the pre-'05 MCS since they have a bit of a handicap with bad gearing and no LSD? Also, any word on pricing for the kits yet, tire choices, ect?

I think it is very early in the planning. I hope kits are reasonable to make it affordable for the club racing group.

All this info is on motoringfile.com (well whitepod is Gabe)

Randy already mentioned hes taking two cars to unlimited. JCW Challenge is 225 HP. Kits available in UK now. Basically its just headers. Seriously doubt they will be made available for US market since it NO an official JCW Challenge Race (or so I hear). I hope it is because an upgrade would be Sweet

Yes you will be able to buy kits. But the beauty of this is that you don't have to buy a "Kit". You can hodge podge by your self. ALL you have to have is a Roll bar (bolt in is fine) and a fire extinguisher.

Then there is the matter of attending some kind of school. Heck he said that possibly one could attend the school that weekend and then race later that same weekend!

I will imagine that the most popular class will eventually be stock Mini Cooper
