Must have been a joke or something because a tie would be virtually impossible with electronic timing to a thousandth of a second. He was pretty embarrassed about it!

Just covering up for his teammate's idiot move. It was Barrichello's repsonsbility to stay behind him. You don't pass your teammate in sight of the flag. You accept you weren't good enough that day and let the better driver on that day reap the rewards. F1 afterall is a gentleman's sport.

F1 ain't perfect.

But I'll take it with all of it's flaws. For me, it will always be the pinnacle.

Besides, I hate NECKCAR

I seem to remember Barrichello being the better driver that day...I thought Barichello earned the win, that's what the ruckus was about - well, besides the poorly disguised switch at the finish

I absolutely wish JPM further success in F1. He was one of the most amazing CART drivers I've ever seen.

Yes, just drop the little commish an E-mail letting him know you want in on the NAM F1 Challenge. There is a topic for both the 05 and 06 seasons.

Alonso and Regie are going to be hard to beat this year - I predict!
Anyone read the latest issue of F1 magazine???? Interesting to see Max Mosley is going to be writing a regular column this year. That way he can bash the constructors yet once again, publicly.

I was surprised that BAR didn't run any laps in the first practice session today. It looks like Button was quick in the 2nd session. I'm thinking that BAR is going to have a solid season this year. I guess I'm sticking with the boys in Red this year! I'm sad to see Rubens leave Ferrari, but I'm happy to see Massa join. He's a very quick driver! Ruben's always seems to get the short end of the stick!

well, at least one thing is the same this year. from itv:

Kimi Raikkonen will start from the back of the grid in Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix after the Finn lost his rear wing at the end of Turn 10.

The McLaren star's suspension failed while he was travelling at around 140mph which tore apart the rear of his car.

How did everyone like the new qualifying format for this year? It went well. I am still partial to the 1 hr session, but this is the next best thing. It's funny, the same people are still in the same positions... the mid-field and back markers will always be in the mid/back. Either way, this is much better than the one lap crap!!!!

Button had a good session. BAR is looking great this year. I'm happy about the Ferrari one-two to start tomorrow!

Nope, qualifying is not being shown again on Speed. I recommend checking speedtv.com to confirm the schedule in the future.

I think the new qualifying format is good as far as putting the fastest drivers at the front of the field. We shouldn't have any weather-assisted poles or other fluke events with this format.

From a TV perspective, I found it boring. Maybe the FIA TV guys just need to get used to having lots of cars on the track at once again, but I felt like I hardly saw any cars on their hot laps. I remember the old days of everyone-out-at-the-end-of-the-session qualifying being much more exciting to watch than this new format was.

I was a big fan of the 1 hour session. Still am. The main difference is that most of the big guns wouldn't hit the track until the remaining 20-25 minutes. First 30 minutes was quite boring. PLus, back then the body work was completely different, to include smaller brake ducts, etc., from race trim. So the car that won in qualifying may not necessarily be the best car in race trim. At least this year what you see is what you get. I watched it live today. Enjoyed it very much, and it did become intense at the end just like the old 1 hour format use to be. Whatever one thinks, it's far better than what it just replaced. Completely fair also. F1 is starting to get things right again.

That is odd. I watched qualifying on SPEED. I enjoyed the new format. Though not as good as the 12 laps in one hour session FAR superior to the one lap bull crap that we had last year.

i liked the new qualifing format. although, i thought the one lap format was good too. i thought it was interesting to see what the cars could do on the track by themselves. but hey, that's just me!

I do like the new format. I think that it's as close as the 1 hr, 12 lap deal. The heavy hitters did go out last then... It still gave me an opportunity to watch the back markers go around. If big teams were not out on track, they only had Minardi to follow... I like that! We'll see how it goes through the rest of the year. As Steve Machett says, what happens when the teams say they were not running 110% of their lap, being held up by traffic... then they're going to start changing the rules again. Last year... F1 was all jacked up-- in terms of the rules! We're getting back on track. I don't really like the two race engine per weekend rule, but I understand why it's needed.

On another note, the V8 engines sounded great. I was concerned about that. What are they down a few hundred HP?
