Who's boycotting the F-1 (post here if you are...no politics talk allowed)

Post in this thread if you plan to boycott F1 races.

I won't be participating anymore in "supporting" them by watching or listening to the races, pre-races, qualifying, practice, etc!

I'm boycotting Michelin but not the F1 entirely. Can't fault the drivers for the tire manufacturer issues or owner politics.

Sorry to hear that - you'll be missing some good racing. Especially since we have so many races left. Don't leave yet - come back!

Yes, there was some issues with the USGP

More here

Only six cars ran in the USGP... It was a shame for F1. However, I am not going to protest... THATS RACING FOLKS! You win some and you lose some. Michelin did not show up to play. Can you tell I am a Ferrari fan yet?

IMHO, this was a real sad day for F1. Circustances got out of control and a solution should have been worked out. I went to the F1 races and Indy last year for the first time. I am sure glad that it wasn't this year. I have also considered boycotting, but I have a wait and see attitude at the moment. I still haven't been to a MLB game since the last strike, but I watch on TV.

So, I'd say they're moving the right direction. Something about buying some tix for 2006 USGP (if there is one).

Without getting too political, the reasons I am boycotting stems back to the 2004 Indy F-1 race as well as the 2005 race. See the 2004 Season thread for my comments about how the track officials had no concern for public safety and ended up costing a driver some serious injuries and also on two separate occassions caused many other vehicles to crash, which all could have been avoided by throwing a full-course yellow. But then again, I'm just an average joe motorsports watcher...who is boycotting F-1 until they can straighten things out or someone else starts another upper echelon racing series.

I haven't watched a single race this year so I guess I have been boycotting since the beginning but only as a rebel without a cause

Unlike YuccaPatrol I've been an F1 fan for more than 40 years and have seen these people screw the US events many times before.

Sorry, but I'll watch every race I can until my death USPG or not.

You didn't hear Bridgestone whinning about not having a competitive tyre to go against the Michelin camp. You didn't hear Ferrari whinning about not being able to compete because they didn't have a tyre. No bellyaching about, put in a chicane and slow everyone down so we can catch up.

Just a bunch of bs if you ask me.

I'll be watching the rest of the races to see what shakes out.

i was at the USGP this year. it was my first race. i left with a bit of a sick feeling about the whole thing -- and i've had the feeling for the last two weeks... until... this morning when i turned on practice at 7am. i was just as excited about watching practice as i ever have been and the anticipation of this being a race weekend kicked in. man i love F1. the politics are one thing but when those cars get on the track, there is nothing like it. where's my tivo remote? i think i'll watch this morning's practice again.

btw, i'm not a ferrari fan.

I'm boycotting Michelin but not the sport as well.

As a matter of fact, I went as far as excluding Michelin from my investment portfolio on that following Monday. The way I saw it, the fall out from the US race has already hurt Michelin's worldwide image and its future for F1 sponsorships is really bleak, which means it was probably time for me to take the profit and dumb the stock before it tanks further, and I was right.

Another long time F1 fan here....I will never boycott. F1 is the simply best, USGP or no. (truth be known, I'm kinda enjoying the whole Michelin debacle on some preverse level. You have to admit, it IS interesting.)

Just as I forgive my pet for messing on the rug...

I'll forgive the Federation of Idiotic A**holes for messing up the USGP. Now that Bibendum (the Michelin Man) has offered to compensate me for my '05 USGP tickets, I'll have Speed Channel on bright and early tomorrow to catch qualifying for the GP of France. I still think that Mad Max should go, along with about half of his ridiculous regulations, but it won't affect my fanaticism for the sport. Besides, I've got some serious catching up to do with my PickSix fantasy league GP, couldn't leave that.

p.s. Already sent Tony George my '06 USGP ticket order, there'd better be one.

No boycot here. I agree with the others about F1 being great. The sound of the V-10s can get you going, pissed off or not. However, I think that all these changes to the rules get annoying sometimes. I miss the old qualifying style (2001 season).

And so am I. I bet they don't have any more tire problems for the rest of the season.

I have been an F1 fan since the early 90's and will never stop watching it and going to races. For me, no other form/formula on racing even comes close. I am excited that we get to see GP2 now as well!

BTW, I was at the USGP this year and will still go back next year, in addition to going to Montreal! Michelin will refund my tickets and maybe give me a free ticket for next year, what can I complain about? I feel that Michelin have done the right thing by admitting their problem, working on preventing it from happening again, and compensating the fans. I still think they make some of the best tires on the planet.

I'm not boycotting anything, the covereage over here in the UK is fabulous! Last week when all the crap hit the fan I called a buddy of mine who was in the Red Bull VIP suite at Indy and I knew more about what was happening than he did or anyone else at Red Bull! After watching F1 for 50 years in the USA I now get a chance to really see great coverage, do you think I am going to boycott it, heck no! Screw Michelin
