Top Speeds (track / closed course)
Big Bend Open Road Race 2003 (www.bborr.com)
Completely legal and conducted on a CLOSED state highway.
115 mph in Cooper CVT (confirmed by radar)
It wouldn't go any faster.

Why can't we talk about speeding on public roads? I can do it on a Camaro website, in fact there is an entire section devoted to street racing (or is this just because it's a Camaro site?
) Is it because of legal reasons (and if so what are they?) or is it just because the illegal stuff is stupid?
Does an 05 MCS top out in 5th or 6th gear? I have read that 134-138 is max for a stock MCS so how are people reaching 150? Must have been a long hill...

We do permit discussions about speeding on public roads. We understand that 10 to 15 over does happen on a regular basis. However, "excessive speed" (something like 100+ or double the posted limit) and street racing are both activities which are treated much more severely and activities which also endanger others. As such we do not permit those discussions and encourage people to take it to a track or other controlled environment if they want to race/drive fast. That has been the policy of this forum for several years and it has the backing of the site owner and the moderation team.

Back straight of TWS - almost 100 mph before the sweet G's of turn 7 (on camber, increasing radius, up a hill so you can go flat out).

I was wondering how fast you could wind it up there. Very cool.
The Drivers Edge is running an evening event there in a month or so, but I think you have to be solo classified to participate.
In the high school days.....
Peaked (ever so briefly) 130 mph in an '87 5.0 Mustang LX at Sears Point, approaching turn 1.
112 mph in a '70 Chevy C-10 1/2-ton at Sears Point Drag Strip. (12.8 secs. 1/4 mile).
No track time in the Mini......yet.

How about 163 mph during last years Nevada Open Road Challenges 1 mile speed run. Check out the results here.. http://www.sscc.us/results-05-norc.htm . Scroll down to the flying mile runs.
Anyone know this guy?

In my 02 somewhatt modified MCS
110mph or so @ Pocono south, coming off the high bank before braking for hard Left
About the same @ LRP before braking for Big Bend
All exact speeds are radar verified
129.1 @ Sandhills Open road challenge, Nebraska 08/2004 during the one mile shootout
Around 133 (speed limiter working) during the road race event 100mph class, came in 2nd 1.5 seconds off
132.6mph @ Big Bend Open road race, Texas 04/2005. During the 120mph class event(speed limiter still working). Came in 3rd .313 of a second off
136.7 @ Sandhills Open road challenge, Nebraska 08/2006. During the one mile shootout (speed limiter removed)
Indicated 144 (probably 138 or so) during road race in 105 class, came in 1st .540 of a second off
The object of the road race is to come closest to averaging the speed in your class without breaking tech speed (maximum speed for each class) usually for me tech was 140 (not a problem when speed limiter was on!)
For those interested, the road in Nebraska is unlike any other road race road in either Texas or Nevada...Narrow, hills and curves...not to mention a little gravel spread in here and there...A real adrenaline rush!

on the IMS my '06 is at the redline in 5th around 115-120 iirc, and top speed was only to be had in 6th, not nearly at 150...
105 on the front straight of VIR north with the instructor weighing me down, 108 without him. Doing VIR full course next month so we'll see what I hit on the back straight. I also have some new valve-stem caps and I'm quite sure that's worth a couple of mph.

Hit about 125-130ish just before braking for NASCAR 2 (the tunnel turn) at pocono. Other than the crosswind buffeting the crap out of my helmet it was quite peaceful. The fun part was coming off the tunnel turn @ 115 and then having the brake for a 180 degree 2nd gear left hander into the south course infield (that will really test your braking system). Hoping to hit some similar highs @ watkins glen in a week or so.
