33mm offset too aggressive for auto-x?

found a set of wheels and tires locally, 4x100 15x7" 33mm o/s with 205/50-15 Yoko AVS ES100. They're pretty cheap. My car sits on H&Rs but I can adjust camber on both ends.

I know of a few folks running 37-38mm o/s, but is the extra 5mm outboard going to be too much? Thanks for any advice...

Marty

PS I know it ain't stock, but I'm not in a stock class anyhow

It is going to rub the outer fender pretty severely.
I run et 35, and need to trim my the inner lip of the outer fender to stop the rubbing.

It also depends on how stiff your suspension is, and how much lower the car is. The lower diameter is irrelevant if you lowered the car the same amount.

not necessarily...the struts will still bottom out at the bump stops with stock
or with lowered springs. they'll just get there quicker with the lowered
springs (unless the bump stops have been shortened).

well the deal came and went, passed it up because I'm just going to save up some $$$ for a better fit (read: in the et40s). no biggie - the car IS lowered so yeah, the rolling diameter will not help me quite as much.

Yes, but if the suspension is stiff enough, the compression being stiff and rebound being soft, then you'll never hit bottom.

Either way it's moot now.

So Marty, you're in our neck of the woods (I grew up in E.C.), have you run with us before: http://solo.wdcr-scca.org

Just to add my worthless $.02, with the 38mm Rotas (pictured in sig) I was rubbing the fenders ever so slightly under very hard cornering and every once in a while over speed bumps. Other than that, no problems.
