Root Beer Run on Saturday

There is a 90% probability that I will be over to meet some Atlanta friends at Fontana on Saturday. I'll be heading over to Sylva to this brewery http://www.yourgnometownbrewery.com/index.htm for root beer, birch beer and other beer. Anyone wishing to join in is welcome.

I'll likely leave Fontana about 10AM, take Wayah Road to Franklin and then head on to Sylva for a bite of lunch and a brewery visit. Return trip route to be determined based on the desires of those along, either the fast and straight route or the fast as you can twisty route on 28 out of Franklin.

This run is totally unplanned so plan to go with the flow.

Just to let everyone know, they do offer samples of all of their beers (7 varieties last time we were there), but they only sell beer to go, in growlers or kegs. The root beer and birch beer comes in 1/2 gallon jugs and kegs.

There is a great cafe a few doors down from them that sells their beer by the glass.

I hope we get to make it up there next Saturday!

LOL, that's why it's a root beer run. It's about the run, not the beer.
Bring the beer back in growlers for later consumption.

The root beer run was renamed BBC run. Brewery, Bakery, Cafe. Great day for a run and great company. I didn't take any pictures until I got home. Damon (from NC) discovered a hidden MINI talent. The back seat is designed to bring home growlers.

Strap 'em in.

Close the lid and it's insulated.

The beer run was great fun:
- Going over that "Thunder" road was a blast.
- The food at the Cafe in Silva was yummy. The company was wonderful, nice to meet you all -- Donna, Rebecca, Terry, Cherie, Kevin and son (that's the best I can do with names).
- The beer tasting was delicious (the Alt Beer took me back to my travells to Dusseldorf)
- I'll enjoy the take-home growler of Ale for a few more days.

Again, Lori and I thank you for inviting us along.

/D

Hi Donna,

Can you tell me the names of the roads we travelled to get to Silva,? Particularly the road than ran along the creek. A friend of mine fly fishes and says it's difficult to find the good places.

Cheers, /Damon

That was Wayah Rd.
It runs from 74/19 at the Nantahala Gorge to 64 in Franklin.
