My only suggestion is NOT to have the acronym MOTD.

Calling Fontana now that we have a group, to see if I get a discount!

As they told me today - no group discount unless the group has an event contract -

... but you get the Dragonslayer's club membership/discount just for asking - and then they'll give you discounts every time you book in the future!

 

She has sent me the event contract, and I don't have it yet, but there is a good discount for joining the Dragonslayers Club, like Blimey said. It's a similar discount. Tell them you are with our group, though. (And I quote from the lady at Fontana, "The gang needs to identify that they are booking for the MINI's Fall Drive in order for my reservationists to understand that each individual is with a group."

And no, I dont' want it to be like MOTD, confused with MOTD, or like that. I want it to be a mini MOTD. I want it to be all about the drives, although there will be a few limited events at night.

J - I don't doubt that all all, knowing the Fontana folks - sometimes they're not 100% "there"...

But - for what it's worth - the reservation lady I talked to today acted like I was speaking Parseltongue when I told her this - she said if there's no contract, then there's no group, and there's nowhere for her to select what group I'm with, and therefore she doesn't understand why I feel like I need to tell her that... but she was happy to make me a Dragonslayer.

 

now don't I feel like a horses patute...

I am trying to remember everyone.. meet SOOOO many people.. usually I remember the people with the same name too... and the really hot men... :D

 

So... you can become a "DragonSlayer" just by asking??

 

Yep - just say "I'd like you to sign me up for a DragonSlayer membership" and they do - they note it on your account in their system (they maintain a customer master record for everyone who has stayed or made a reservation) - so next time (in theory) it shows up on there.

I had NEVER heard of this before Jason mentioned it - but it IS just that easy (they gave me a 15% discount on my off-season cabin rates, FWIW).

 

I sent our lady at Fontana an e-mail letting her know of the problem some of you have had when making your reservations. I have not received the contract, but will sign and send it back as soon as I get it. Hopefully until then, just let them know you are with the Fall MINI Dragon Run group. I hope they will figure it out. I am working to make this as painless and smooth as possible for everyone. Let me know if you have any other bumps! I have already begun to work on our barebones schedule for the weekend, and planning the nightly events, including the mini Midnight on the Dragon! Does someone want to help lead the Brew Swap? As someone who has never attended one, I am probably not the one to head up one.
