just a suggestion..at the western end of the Cherohalla is a great BBQ joint. Small, but yummy...great place for lunch.. I can't remember the name, but it'll be on your right as you're heading west. Enjoy!

Sweetwater BBQ maybe? It's not on the Cherohala proper - but is on the right as you come through Robbinsville on the way back toward Fontana. And it's VERY yummy...

I think this was just a freak thing. I have played for 8 years or more with no injury. I just back from the hospital here in Boone, they think it's a torn ACL. I have to make an appointment with with an orthopedic when I get back home, out of work for a week. Man, this sucks. Just hope it's better by the weekend, I don't want to be a passenger!
and thanks Paul, I'll let ya know if I need something!

Wow - I have NEVER heard of anyone doing that playing disc golf... You must put some serious mojo on those things when you hurl 'em... I can see HOW it could happen, but you'd have to be doing some serious twistin' and leanin'... not just a flick of the wrist...

Get well soon...

yeah, it was weird to me, too. I attribute it mainly to a very unlevel and rough tee pad area. Thanks. MINIBee, thanks for the patch and DVD of my Dragon run last year! The patch looks great!

Part 1 - That just sux you hurt your knee!

a) April can practice on my Tacoma--or my car, she can't treat it any worse!
b) I'm a Disc Golf wrist flipper, so no worry about injury here...
c) You and Rich can trade vehicles. I'm sure the HHR only has two pedals.
;-0

Sorry, couldn't resist--you know you'd do the same to me in an attempt to make me laugh...go easy on it!

Seriously, if you need anything, let me know. I'm driving to W/S Tue, otherwise I'm around, and I'm thinking of taking Thursday off.

Part 2 - goodies

I bought a bunch of chips, peanuts, and cokes today, a few cigar cutters and some "ashtrays", (you'll see). I'll pick up the cigars Thursday to ensure they're fresh. Also found something "local" to go with the pepper jelly for our friends from up north.

Part 3 - Internet connectivity

Is somebody going to have a laptop so we can off load/up load pics during the trip? Fontana is "hooked up" if not WIFI, aren't they?

Part 4 - accommodations

Rich, and Dan, I'm thinking you guys are staying with me, right? I know there was talk of Rich staying with Mark's family, and I think they have a full house already, don't they? Point is, it's two beds and not sure if it has a couch, so somebody, (uh, not me, I'm the oldest remember), needs to bring a sleeping bag.

Part 5 - Did I mention that just sux, Jason?!

Yes, Fontana has internet access. There are a few hotspots around the village.

It's cold here too. Last night we dropped all the way down to 50f and I don't think that it will be much warmer than 79f by mid-afternoon. So make sure you bring some Rumplemintz and hot cocoa to mix together.

The word on the streets is that the Pontiac G6 is the preferred rental car on the dragon. Enterprise rents them.

Now I all I need is my car back, or a suitable replacement. 2007's are looking better all the time. Got to be better than this Ford F*c*us Low mile 2006 R50 0r R53, would be okay.

Wow, so sorry to hear this. I have been off the thread for a day while getting the MINI ready for the trip. You need rest and ice my friend. I hope it's not your clutch leg. Glad you got the DVD and the patch. Hope your knee heals quickly.

Woohoo! Can't wait! I'm staying in the lodge so I'll have to come find all you cabin dwellers. I'll be the one in the Liquid Yellow Cooper Cabrio! I plan to drive to Atlanta from here on Thursday, then head out early Friday for the rest of the drive.

So far I think I'm the only one crazy enough to be camping at Fontana....I'm already starting to smell the campfire burning....I have to work on Friday so I will be coming in very early Saturday. Keep your eyes open for a lowered CR/W S with GT stripes and 18's sometimes I have my "16" numbers on the sides too.....

Just saw this thread...been crazy at work. I'm actually in the 'States right now and was planning on heading up to The Gap this weekend anyway!

Also turns out that another board I visit occasionally (clubroadster.net) is meeting up there too...think they're also at Fontana.

Regardless, I'll be there in my Miata--license plate reads "91Eunos" so you'll know who I am...the Mini's back home in Germany resting in the garage after posting an 8 minute 50 second run on the Nordschleife right before I flew back over here! I have the in-car video too (before they told me to take down my camera)!
