JCW Died

Was driving 35mph yesterday - and my JCW quit running - popped the clutch - it fired back up.

Today it died on the way to work - popped clutch again and it fired up.

On the way home - it died - would not fire - would just crank.

Called roadside assistance and a flatbed arrived and hauled it away.

I think I might be done.

Not fatal by any means. You might just have a bad coil or something loose. I'm curious.

My JCW has a stage 1 tune

The tune has been in since the car had 400 miles - over a year

Hopefully it is nothing major, because the dealer if they see that it has that tune on it will likely void your warranty.

I doubt that my issues are tune related.

Good luck, sounds like something fuel related. Was thinking possible HPFP also.

That is absolutely not true. I have brought my car (with the tune) in for service many times and I have never had an issue. I even had my clutch replaced under warranty at 28,000 miles.

Just becuase you bring you car in with a tune and a problem does not mean they will void your warranty.

You are absolutely correct. I never said it does. I said I hope they don't because of having it. A lot of dealers WILL look for an excuse not to cover it.

BTW there are laws to protect us from dealers and manufacturers from voiding you warranty for any aftermarket part or having service done by someone other then the dealer.

I was upfront with they SA when it went in for warranty work last year. They know it has a tune.

So - they cannot get fuel to the injectors - so I say fuel pump. They are taking my tune out to see if it helps.

My guess is it will not help.

Aaaand... While this is true... It's not for ECU tunes.

Many OEMs are flagging warranty work related to engine related issues.

VW/Audi/Ford/Honda/Subaru will nationally flag your ECU the second a corporate scan tool is hooked up at the dealer with a non OE software load.

The factory scan tools are getting _very_ picky about checksum values.

If you buy an iPhone, and Jailbreak it... And that leads to a dead battery... Is it Apple's fault?
