Akrapovic EVO exhaust - full turbo back

I know a few people have replaced the stock DP with the Akrapovic DP but I was wondering if anyone has replaced the factory JCW exhaust with the full Akrapovic turbo back exhaust? Can anyone comment on how they like it vs stock?

I have the JCW carbon fiber diffuser on the back bumper. Its that part just above the exhaust tips, I was wondering how it would look with the Akrapovic CF exhaust tips. The weave of the CF does not seem to match.

Here is a pic of the rear cf valance

And this is the Akrapovic cf exhaust tips

Had the cf diffuser on my jcw with the Akrapovic turboback exhaust with titainum tips and it looked very nice.I would check with Way to see if the jcw stage 1 tips would fit to save some coin.

Akrapovic vs factory jcw with res delete the akrapovic was quieter without drone at freeway speeds.

I ordered the whole thing from Way at WMW. I decided to go with the titanium tips. I think the CF tips would have clashed with the rear CF diffuser. They have a very different weave or pattern.

Looks like I will be one of the first with this set up. I am having my mechanic do the install next week. I will report back on my findings, take pics and videos. I hope its worth the money. I was sick all afternoon after I ordered it.

Excellent choice fish!
You are so going to love it...
I run the Akrapovic DP (for 2 years now) and in the meanwhile I have recommended it to many people. You can't simply go wrong with that.
The rest of the Akrapovic exhaust is in my future plans with CF tips. ( I have the laser blue diffuser).
For the time being I use a 63,5mm/2,5' straight pipe without a resonator and the stage1 kit JCW back box. It's brutal, it bangs, backfires but it drones from 3000 to 4000rpm when cruising and it is loud enough for your ears to bleed after a short trip.
I imagine the complete Evolution exhaust from Akrapovic will be quieter. So when I get bored of my current configuration I am definitely going for it.
I have a question though. Has anyone measured the diameter of the Akrapovic exhaust? Is it a clean 2,5' pipe all the way? Cause if it's not, that would be the only reason for not buying it.
Keep us posted with your impressions...

Look forward to hearing your feedback. Had Akrapovic pipes on my sport bikes and loved them, great quality and sound.

Thanks for posting those pics. Do you have any more? Bigger pics perhaps?

You don't think that the 2 different weaves of CF clash at all?

Can you give bit of info where you got it. How long you have it on? How do you like it etc...

I do not have the parts yet but I am looking for some justification for spending close to $2500 on this.

Hopefully once the Evo exhaust is installed I will feel better.

Those CF tips are SICK!!!!! Want them immediately!! Can they be purchased separately and can they be welded on Factory JCW exhaust?

Ask Way if you can exchange the tips before you install the titanium ones, for the CF tips. Sounds like that is what you would really like, and they do look good in the pics. My .02. Good luck..

Yes they can be purchased separately and you can put them on the JCW exhaust. I do not think you need to weld anything.

So similarly, the JCW Stage 1 exhaust tips will fit onto the akrapovic exhaust perfectly too, right? It's just my own preference that I don't like the shape of the akrapovic tips ver much.

I do not know about the JCW tips. But the Akrapovic install instructions make it look like their tips will fit on any muffler.

Sorry...no other pictures.

I think the carbon tips look great, the quality is amazing and I"m glad I made this purchase. Not too many MINI's around with an Akra system.

I purchased from CEC in Miami, friends of mine and they are awesome...paid around $1500 - no down pipe, was told it would probably trigger the Check Engine and I didn't want to mess around with it too much. Had it about a year already, no complaints. Will probably add the downpipes soon.

Sweet. Thanks for the reply. A tune will clear the CEL and also make it so you have no issue with an emissions inspection.

Install day is tomorrow. In the mean time...I took these pics.

I do not know about being a work of art but it is very nicely made with exceptional attention to detail. That is my kind of product.

Looks pretty good. You should weigh it, then weigh the factory setup when it's off the car to get the difference. That muffler is huge, it looks heavy.

The whole setup is at least 10 pounds lighter than stock. I have the factory resonator sitting on the floor of my garage. That thing IS heavy.

I got my car back today. My mechanic had a pretty straight forward time with the install. It was good thing I bought a new gasket, stud bolts/nuts and clamp. My mechanic had a hard time getting one of the stud bolts out.

Overall my first impression is that I am not that overly impressed. Its very nicely made. Its a relative bargain (cost wise) compared to some of the exhausts they make for other cars. Porsche GT3... $14,000.

The tips look great. It sounds nice. The over all exhaust note is lower and deeper. If you are looking for something loud. Find something else.

If you have a factory JCW or the factory JCW exhaust on your Cooper S, I would advise to keep it on. Get the Akrapovic DP and if you like it loud and some drone at highway speeds then do a res delete.

I will follow up with another post in a few weeks after it has broken in.

As always... here are some pics of the exhaust tips. Sorry for the dirty car, I have not driven it in over 2 weeks. A car wash is in the works for this weekend.

Hey Steve, have your mechanic take another look at that. It seems to be off center, and very close to the diffuser on the left. He can bend the hangers a little and drop the tips, and realign the pipe to get them centered.

The one thing I really liked with the extra noise mount on the section where the chassis brace goes. Nice touch there.
