JCW suspension

When ordering a factory JCW Mini with the JCW suspension, is the suspension installed at the dealer or at the factory?

Used to be the dealer (2009), I assume it still is.

Yes. I was told dealer only. It's not even an option to have it installed at the port.

There are a lot of suspension options out there.

After I asked if it was installed at the Port.. I was told dealer only...
I was a little pissed, I just think it's a way for the dealer to make more money on the labor...
I ordered it anyway....

That is ridiculous.

It's bad enough you have to pay extra for the JCW suspension and JCW body kit on your factory-prepped JCW car. Maybe Mini(BMW) will get my money in a few years when they wise up. Looks like it's going to be a 2011 Subaru STI for next season.

Thanks all for your replies.

How much are they charging for the kit and installation?

I am a little pissed that the Factory JCW doesn't come with all the JCW trimings.. I really liked the JCW body kit I could see maybe $2,000 installed at the factory, they were telling me $3,500-$4,000 not...

It should have come from the factory with the suspension..it's there on the line just put the parts in, they know it's a JCW..how much extra are the parts on top of stock... $400-$500...really?

When shopping for my first new car(this one) I looked at Honda Civic SI nice car but.. younger crowd and it would get stolen... Subi yea I looked... nice but... again younger crowd..stolen plus it looks too agressive you'll get a ticket for speeding just parked.."...ah.. Officer I didn't know I was speeding..how fast did you say I was going? can you please write that on my side window please... " You're driving a "race car", you're agressive driving or about to.., you're "Fast and Furious"...
The STI is great and 4 wheel drive is also great, but the gas mileage was low like 16-18 city 25 ish highway (not sure) but no way near MINI's and gas is going up and will continue to go up..

Now with the MINI it's a little bit more of a mature car ...don't want to say it .. it's "cute" ..cute little cars can't be that fast.. ....
justa's are well justa's (I never drove one though so no offense) S's are getting mean but I do see more and more out there.... I saw just 2 JCW's outside in the past year and one was pulling into the dealer as I bought mine so does that count?

Everyone I told I bought a JCW to..I just got blank stares a what..oh a MINI on steroids... Oh.. a quick test ride.."I didn't think MINIs were that fast" no they're not!!!! it's a JCW
Most cops wont know you're driving a factory street race car..just a cool MINI.... "do you know how fast you were going?" "no..they put that huge speedo way over there in the middle..Officer..I didn't want to look there I was keeping my eyes on the road Officer.. I didn't want to be distracted by looking over at the middle of my dash... I'm sorry ?

Oh what sold me on JCW everyone I stopped on the street and asked them about their car they said it was a fun car..
So I wanted fun, easy to park, great gas mileage and quick = JCW
yea I paid a lot for my car but I think if you lease you through your money away... I have been playing with older cars for quite a while and am tired..so I wanted a car that gave me fun, easy to park, great gas mileage and quick... plus different..

I may have paid an extra $10,000 on top of an S (with options and dealer labor rates) but it's a factory JCW all covered by warentee...
If I were to build up an S like a lot of people do, yea it may be faster not sure about handling you wont have a warentee and I doubt your insurance company will cover what was done in case of a loss...

Sorry I rambled on and got a little off of the "suspension" topic it's 2:19am and sleep deprived so ..it did something to me....

Oh and to the Youngens out there... There will always be a car faster out there and will handle better... you don't have to prove to anyone and push the envelope it will only bite you in the end..

Good night/morning Dave

I know this is an old old post, but I totally agree with you. I'm 24 and have been in the care scene for years now and still to this day go to car meets and events. The whole civic, sti thing is gonna go in circles between tickets, stolen, drama etc. I have a 04 Mustang Mach 1 and it made 305hp and 320tq to the wheels. (I'm trading for a 09 jcw Friday!). I've noticed and realized since having it, Speed/power doesn't matter. You don't have to prove anyone, there's ALWAYS gonna be someone/something out there that's gonna be better. Just enjoy what YOU have!
