JCW Rim Paint Code
JCW Rim Paint Code
Wasn't sure where else to post this.
Does anyone know what the correct paint code is for the standard JCW rim paint? I purchased (from the local MINI dealer, who you would think should know such things -- especially when you've got to lay out something like $40 a pop for this stuff) some touch-up paint that they claim is for the 17" Challenge Spoke rims that come standard with the JCW vehicles. But the paint is clearly not the correct paint. The vial is marked "GREY MET." and "51 91 0 419 887" underneath that (which I think is the part number, based on the accompanying labels on the bag in which it was delivered to me), but when I removed the paint applicator (after shaking well) I could clearly see the paint shade was closer to charcoal grey than the silver color that is on the rims. And, yes, I got a second, independent opinion just to make sure I'm not color-blind...
I realize paint can and does lighten as it dries, but I'm also confident that this paint will not lighten from charcoal grey to silver... So before I go back and argue with the guy behind the parts counter at this MINI dealer, I'd like to go armed with whatever knowledge he's already supposed to have...
