No JCW badge on front grille if you get JCW aero kit?

I was reading another thread (new owners) and came across this post of a new JCW with the JCW aero kit and I noticed it didn't have a JCW badge on the front grille.

I asked the owner if he had removed it and his response was he was told that you don't get the badge anymore if you get the JCW aero kit. Does this sound right to people? Anyone recently received an JCW aero-kitted JCW?

I'm worried because I'm waiting for my JCW aero-kitted JCW to arrive and I really like the badge.

Thoughts?

Don't worry. You ordered a JCW from the factory. It'll have the badge.

You don't get a JCW badge if you order the Aero kit on, for instance, a justa.

Except that the owner I linked to in my post also ordered a JCW from the factory with the JCW aero kit, and there was no badge.

If you have a Cooper or a Cooper S and you have the JCW aero kit installed, you do not get a JCW badge on the lower grill.

If you have an S and get the JCW stage 1 kit. The badge is supposed to go on the lower grill on the passenger side and on the boot opposite the Cooper S badge.

If you have a factory JCW, the JCW badge is supposed to be on the lower grill on the drivers side and the rear badge goes on the passenger side of the boot in place of the Cooper or Cooper S badge.

At one point my badge fell of (nice work Prestige MINI in Mahwah, NJ) and it was replaced under warranty. The cost of the badge is about $90.

The front bumper needs to come off in order to put the JCW badge on the lower grill. It has 2 posts with speed nuts.

Then someone needs to tell this guy that mini owes him a badge.

The scuttles on that cabrio look like they might be "S" scuttles.

Is it possible he ordered an "S" with a JCW aero kit and thinks it's a "factory JCW"?

Looks like a JCW logo on the boot.

I was just about to ask that. Is that a JCW badge or a "Cooper S" on the boot?

If it's a JCW badge, someone owes him a badge for the front.

When you have the Stage 1 kit installed, the grill badge is supposed to be installed ABOVE the bumper, passenger side (I have the Stage 1 Installation PDF). If you have a factory JCW, whether there's an aero kit or not, the badge goes below bumper on driver's side.

Stage 1 rear boot badge gets stuck opposite the COOPER S logo, on the driver's side. Factory JCW will have JCW badge on boot passenger side, and no COOPER S lettering.

Is suspect if somebody has a factory JCW and aero kit but is missing the badge, I imagine the dealer left the badge on the old grill when installing the aero kit and forgot to transfer it over. They owe that customer a front grill badge.

The new badges are plastic the older ones for the front grill used to be metal. If you have the older metal grill badge I'd recommend putting a nylon nut on the back to prevent them from ever coming loose.

I have been trading PMs with mini6322. He does indeed have a factory JCW. Its possible they (the VDC) forgot to put the JCW badge on the lower driver side grill or he did not want it put on or it maybe it just fell off like mine did at one point.

I just got my JCW build on 5/14 and the JCW Aero Kit II was installed at the VDC in Brunswick, GA.

I was surprised to see no badge on the lower front grill (see below). I asked about it and my MA said they don't come with the badge any longer. I know they were on the version of the kit w/o the brake ducts and the smaller trim/splitter. She showed me another mini with a aero kit on it but I can't remember if fenders had the body color trim or the black coated trim.

I need to reach back out to her and get her to help me get a badge because I like the look of onefish2's.

Whoops - just realized you all were talking about mine all through this thread . . . and no, Xeraux, between the build sheet and the price it would be hard to mistake which build one had

Go to the service dept and tell them the car showed up without the badge. They will warranty it and get you one. Which dealer in DFW?

Almost. You said the badge is supposed to go on the lower grill (below the bumper) for Stage 1 but the installation doc states to place it above the bumper (on the upper grill) on the passenger side

You are correct that IS where it is supposed to go but I have seen so many JCW stage 1 cars with the badge misplaced on the left and right sides of the lower grill. Messed me up too .

Its a beautiful badge no matter where it goes. I think the techs that install it just do it wherever they feel it would look best

I guess I should have just looked at the pics. Moritz will get you a new badge, just go to service. They did the same for me when I bought my first JCW in Sep of 08, (09 model).

I wanted to thank the three of you for reaching out to me and providing input, pic's, etc.

I just received a call from my MA this afternoon and they don't have an explanation/response for what did or didn't transpire. She told me that they will make good on it anyhow. The part/badge has been ordered, it should arrive on Tuesday and my MA is trying to get me an appointment for that same day to knock it out.

I will post updated pic's upon completion.

Again, thank you all who participated on this thread - ya saved me some money for doing something else.

Glad to hear that my initial question prompted people to dig into it. Now if my JCW would just hurry up and arrive I'll be a happy camper.

I just realized why you don't have the emblem on the front.

It's because you have the brake duct kit. When they install the brake duct kit, it is basically where the emblem goes so you need to either....

a) move it

b) remove it.

10 bucks says it's two-sided taped on some tech's toolbox somewhere. (or on ebay)

Mark,

You had the original JCW aero kit and installed the retrofit brake duct kit on your car. The new V2 aero kits come with the brake duct kit and since it's a new install there isn't a grill to replace or a badge to move. The VDC guys either forgot to put it on or it fell off while in transit to the dealership.

-Steve
