Dilemma: Body colored roof, or black? (er, white?)
So, I'm on the cusp of ordering my car.
I *just now* realized I could get the roof painted body color.
So does anyone have a picture of a Dark Silver Mini with the roof painted in body color?
Man I love this stuff. I build to order cars all day long- but for other people. I love this sh*t!!!

I'm a fan of the body colored roof (my car has it) and I think the Dark Silver is a good color for it. I just can't see a white roof with that color and while black looks good (the first factory JCW I saw was DS/BL), the body color looks better. Just my opinion though. Some people love the Laser Blue/ White combo and I hate it.

No question in my mind on this one. Dark Silver just goes with Dark Silver roof. I saw a photo on here of a dark silver with dark silver roof and light silver stripes, and it looks PHENOMINAL.
BTW... and I only bring this up, because the last post did... Laser Blue has to go with Black roof

Ive (obviously) seen different color combos on these cars for years. By the time I had it narrowed down to one body color, I couldnt decide on a roof. My MA had a car brought over form another dealership so I could see it in person, because the configurator, and online photos, dont present the 'look' of the colors accurately, imo.
I think you have to see the cars you want in the 'flesh.' and no one else's opinion matters on things like color. Performance mods with measureable gains? Yes. Colors? No. Go look at some cars.

After looking at tons of pics of MINIs on here with black/white (non-body color) roofs, I started to think "hey, maybe I should get a body-color roof to be different!" Then I realized that what makes the MINI unique from pretty much all other cars is that they can have that black/white roof.
I'm generally not a fan of the white roof - it stands out since not much else is generally white. With the black roof you get matching pillars, trim, etc.

Any pics?
The frustrating part is that I'm stuck at work 6 days a week, and the only eff'n day I have off is the same day the MINI store is Closed.
Makes me wanna go bonkers.

It's about half way down the page.
But seriously... LaB/B is the best

ok this is easy. You getting the sunroof!? Black is a must because it 'dissappears'...Sure you can say
oh it looks fine with white, or whatever"... yeah it looks 'fine' but not neccessarily clean lol
I love the black on my ds... blends oh so nicely with the black pillars and my eventual tint job
i also have the aero kit... so ds/ds would be a LOT of ds lol

Just my personal feeling, but I prefer the monotone look. All three of my MINI's have been single colored by choice. I've had a Royal Gray/Royal Gray R53, an Astro Black/Astro Black R56, and now my all Chili Red JCW. I especially like the red JCW body kit with just enough chrome and black accents. The only "mod" to my factory look is a carbon fiber hoodscoop which adds a bit of panache.

*cough* no sunroof *cough*
I'll make my case, and then let it go.
1) It makes the car an easy bake oven
2) It will eventually rattle
3) It makes you have to choose black (which is great with LaB btw)
4) You get less headroom in the car
5) It's heavier than without a sunroof.
6) It's a big ticket item that can be spent on other items
Outside of that it's awesome!
BTW... did I say that LaB/B is the best?

DS/DS with silver viper stripes looked great as referenced above. One concern for Black roof her in the Mojave Desert is heat and fine particle dust settling on it. White roof makes some sense in a climate with alot of heat and sunlight if the car is going to sit out. At the end of the day you should order what makes you smile as you walk up to the car because once you get into the car and drive it you will be smiling from ear to ear regardless of the color you choose!
