Has anyone traded in their JCW yet?

Any insight as to what kind of value I'd get for it?

After 1500 miles of miserable ownership, I want to be done with this car.

Let's see, fuel pump dies, the turbo inlet pipe comes off every time I drive it (Just finally got a 7mm socket out to tighten it down with all the force I can muster and sheared the clamp), occasionally stops recognizing my iPhone, brakes make a horrible crunching noise as I'm coming to a stop, the beep from the seat belt occasionally continues to chime after I've removed the key, forcing me to put it back in and then remove it again.

This has been the worst car ownership experience of my life.

Geeez ... Really sorry to hear that ... It will be interesting to see the reponses on the site of others. Think it could be a lemon ? I've had minimal problems with mine ? Then again, its not a JCW.

Well, that's good to hear. They're fantastic cars to drive when they run. I hope you continue to have better fortune than myself.

Sorry to hear your problems. I have had mine since August and have around 3200 miles on it. Only problems I have are minor rattles that I can't locate and when I tried to replace the side mirror covers with carbon fiber ones, they haven't fit. What is your dealership doing for you?

I have a 2009 JCW with 4,231 miles on it and not a single issue, rattle or glitch. I am totally satisfied with it from build quality to relaibility. Sounds like your problems are easily fixed...did your dealer not address these issues? Seems simple enough to fix...inlet hose coming loose, brake issue....!!!

I have noticed a number (not huge of course) but a few selling these(JCW)..
All of them around 4-8k miles... Isnt this just about when the engine Chatter starts? I talked myself about of buying one this year... There are still lots of bugs for a car that costs so much. Maybe one of these years i will make it to the Dragon... but not this one...

Another 2200 mile JCW owner with absolutely no glitches, traded in an '08 R56 MCS with 9K miles also with no problems. There are lemons out there but if you haven't given your dealer a chance to resolve your issues yet, you're caving in way too early. Expect to take a HUGE beating if you try trading it in/selling right now.

sorry to hear about your bad experiences. I would advice against trading at least right now all values are down and complete buyers market. I say let the dealer keep it until they get it right, and if they don't trade it in the spring /summer when values should be at their highest. Good luck with what ever decision you make.

yep, you'l lbe hit hard for trade-in.

you'd get better value selling it yourself (as long as the buyer doesn't read this thread)

Well, I probably overreacted a bit. A few days of snow and grappling with an intake tube in a dark parking lot in my work suit really drove me through the roof, especially when the OEM clamp managed to snap in half after tightening it down while still at the office. For now, I managed to secure the tube with an OEM hose clamp from the Evo (Will be picking up a t-bolt shortly).

Right now, I work 7 days/week (I'm a CPA) and just don't have the patience for this and don't have time to take it to the dealership. I'm going to tough it out until May and take it in for my laundry list of issues assuming the car doesn't leave me stranded again.

I know it ain't pretty but it works.

Edit: I also appreciate BigMiniAl taking the time to give me a call to make sure everything is okay. I just haven't had a chance to call him back (And I know he will see this thread).

Dude you NEED to get your car into the dealership NOW!!!!

You MUST get this stuff on record. You get this stuff on record you could have your car marked as a lemon, then the dealership buys it back. Do not bring it in later with a bunch of stuff... FIX IT AS IT COMES UP!

Seriously man, you'll need to make the time as best you can, it's to your benefit.

If your dealership is like mine, it's going to take a month to get an appointment anyway....

I agree, take it to the dealer, you shouldn't be fooling around with the clamps no matter how fun it is! Your dealer should have a loaner program or did they not tell you about that? Our's has been steady so far, over 4000 miles of fun!

No problems here at all.

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your JCW.
I have over 2,500 trouble, rattle free miles on mine. I really do not forsee having any problems and believe me I have looked.
I'm betting you will get everything fixed and then you will not want to dump your JCW.
I hope you have a good dealer that will take care of your problems. A bad dealer is really a nightmare when anyone has problems.

Great price where it's at now but I expect that to go up quite a bit.

I'd expect it go up a lot more than a bit! I didn't add it up, but the options might be close 10k above the original base.
The car is not even broken in!

Not a single R56 JCW sold on eBay recently. They get bid up to low 20s in best case.

Too funny.. I was reading your post and was thinking that inlet tubes pop off quite a bit in turbo cars. Happened on my first SRT-4 and my Evo IX and then I read that you used the one from your Evo. The kind you have on there now is the best..

Look at it this way.. you must be pushing some serious flow to have it popping off that easy even when cranked down all the way. Your JCW must be one of the rare gems that flows off the line with a little extra spirit under the hood..
