I would love to been a fly on the wall when Shelby was with Henry Ford in the LeMans celebration parties. All those euro aristocrats having to watch some Texan with a Cowboy Hat.
Better yet a fly that could understand Italian, German and French.
Just wanted to introduce myself and my car... Just got it off Craigslist last week. 97k miles. Mostly barebones (weight-savings for the win!) with no sunroof, HK, electric folding mirrors, xenon, and seat heaters, as far as I can tell right now. I just noticed two main problems though (albeit post-purchase, unfortunately), and I'll post one of them in a separate post, so please check it out.
Anyway, cheers! Oh yes, I have a YouTube channel and made a quick, simple intro video to the car right after purchase. Check it out!
Just hit 45K miles. Missing my Challenge front splitter now. I hit a piece of road debris recently and it wiped out my Challenge front splitter and pulled out the stanchions that held it, along with an added M7 carbon fiber splitter. Managed to save the carbon fiber but the Challenge splitter was shattered. I am on the hunt for a replacement Challenge splitter and I think I found one. Got a replacement bumper cover, just need to paint and install. I also added the latest version of Spyder's headlights which I like better than the first version as they removed that stupid looking headlight washer cover.
Although you can't see it, I also installed with the help of my brother an Integral Audio Soundstage and Phantom Subwoofer. As if that was not enough work, we also replaced the sunroof tray which had stopped working. That was a big job but now I have my sunroof back.
Here's a shot of the car prior to the wipeout with the Challenge and M7 splitter and older Spyder headlights. That splitter combo added much stability at high speeds.
Many fine looking cars in this gallery. Need a few action shots? This is Gollum (2018 Works car set up for D Street) on the Dragon this spring. Headed back down 81 soon for more fun.
2006 R52 JCW....paid $1,350 for it a couple years ago...still a work in progress....fully loaded with almost every option available that year...window sticker was $39,950 when new
I know it's not a second generation...I noticed the section that this thread was in after I put my picture up....my bad, sorry
Went to MonroneyLabels.com and got a copy of my factory window sticker using the VIN. Quite the loaded little JCW. Been enjoying the heck out of it at shows and driving events allover the MidAtlantic region...
