R57 Keeping your top like new
Keeping your top like new
I've discovered that key to keeping your top looking like new is to brush any dirt or debris off of it before you drop it. Any dirt or debris on the top will act like sandpaper when the top is folded causing premature wear in certain areas. I bought a soft plastic tire brush from Walmart's automotive department and every time I plan on dropping it I brush it off and here we are over a year on after dropping the roof pretty much every weekend, it still looks like new. Just say'n............
We actually have found the Raggtopp cleaning and protector to be the best product for convertibles as this comes from the company that makes the top material.

Yes that would be even better, vacuum your top before you drop it.
Additionally, I'll share with you my sole four reasons for running up the top. Reason three won't apply to your situation.
1. It's raining.
2. It's snowing.
3. It's too hot or too cold for my co-pilot and she's whining louder than the super charger for me to hear it.
4. A bunch of drunks are throwing empty beer cans in the back seat and didn't invite me.

Conditions rule the day, that's true. To conclude, "Topless motoring IS motoring at its best.".
Great product.

I've used Raggtopp protector for my last three convertibles and have been very happy with the results. No stains, no premature wear and no leaks. I always recommend the spray to everyone.

top material comes from Haartz
don't believe me? Dig the web site and see they are exclusive maker of the 'union jack' soft top material available on some MINI ....
here's what they say about top care: https://www.haartz.com/cleaning-guid...h-top-cleaning

Wanted to pop in and say thank you for the Raggtopp recommendation. I bought the cleaning & protector, and a big green bristle brush for my top.
This is my first convertible and when I bought the car I didn't think about caring for the top. It was the furthest thing from my mind when I was test driving this really fun car. The reality has now sunk in that this car is going to be high maintantence compared to my old Mini hardtop.

Another good product for maintenance of soft convertible tops is the 303 line of products. Have been using 303 Cleaner and Fabric Guard on our '15 MINI Roadster with great results.
. Black top is "blacker" and very water repellant after treatment. That said, may have to check out the Raggtop products in as much as Haartz recommends them.
