Hi all, waited since June for my new F56, received it today...love it
This is my third Mini in six years!!!.....on a test drive in June of a 2014 cuz 2015 were not out yet, I asked the salesperson if the KM/MPH digital could be displayed like my other Mini's...sure he said....so he pushed a button and up came the digital display of the KM / hr as I was driving. The gauge also has permanent display in Analog form......so today when I received my car, they went over everything me. I knew I had another question there before I left.....so I could not remember at the exact time...information overload.....then I left and drove away. I got a coffee down the road and while driving I told not see what my current exact speed was. Only in the analog form.....so I then drove back to the dealer...asked my delivery specialist the question....she played around with my settings....after 5 min. She gave up...We tried together the "BC" button....all that came up was the Engine Temp.....then she called the sales manager who was my initial salesperson before he was promoted....he was the one that showed it to me on the demo...he still says that it came be done. He then tried all sorts of things. No help...so he tells me that the car has to go to service and reprogrammed to have the digital KM displayed.....I said I didn't have the time right now, but if they could look into it, and get back to me with a fix, I would appreciate it...no problem....so here is the answer....in Canada if you order the Essentials Package which includes Heated Seats and Sun Roof, you loose the Digital KM / hr read out......I said nobody brought this to my attention...I said it is impossible to drive around reading the very small analog numbers, I can't !!!! Who would order and drive a car this way ? Either Iam going to drive to slow or too fast and get a speeding ticket, take your pick. All cars built today from the cheapest to the most expensive ALL have a digital KM / MPH readout display, except me and my car because nobody brought this to my attention. A serious issue.
Anyone facing this issue, and what was the fix...I am told by Corp that this issue can't be done after the car was made....anyone ???? Thanks for your input and time to read my story.

 

Know nothing about the 2015 cars or that package but that does not seem right. Perhaps the issue is still some type of switch-ology. Curious to hear what you find out.

 

Unfortunately I don't have anything constructive to help you with your problem, but I do recommend you cut down that long sentence and structure the text so that you don't scare away people who may be able to help.

 

That's really hard to believe. What the f#*^ does showing a little readout have to do with a sunroof and heated seats. I'm not sure I believe it still.

If you go to the options for I think central display, you can set what options are visible on the display. Make sure speed is selected.

Well, I had to order the essentials package to get the sports suspension, and then deleted the sunroof. I didn't want any of it. That would make me very angry. The car I test drove had a sunroof and the digital speedo.

p.79 of the manual also says what MasterYoda mentioned, but it is unclear from the manual what it does.

 

I never display the speed digitally. I don't recall my wife's Camry having an option to display the speed digitally either.

Here is what I found out with your troubling shooting comments and direction.

It appears customers/owners like you know a lot more than the info given to me today. I went over my owners manual, and it appears that some software was not fully loaded in my car. It appears that the "Instr. cluster display" option is not available under "Settings" in order to "Select the desired displays."....the car will have to go back to the dealer for this. I will wait to hear from the dealer before taking it in. They are supposed to get back to with an answer and hopefully it will validate what I have found out as mentioned. Many thanks again, it is really appreciated....!!!!!!! Does this make any sense ?

 

I changed mine I think in the settings mode.

 

Here is the latest. The on-board computer is an option for the LOADED PACKAGE. Without this you will not be able to have the KM/hr displayed.
In my case, I didn't buy the Loaded Package (not made aware of this, was standard on my 2008 & 2013), therefore I will not be able to have the digital KM/hr displayed. Anyone else having this issue or am I sold BS ?

 

Which center display do you have? Standard radio or one of the screens? Either 5" or 8"?

There was no fully loaded package for MY 2014 if I recall correctly. I believe this became an option for MY 2015 vehicles.

Can you tell us what build sheet packages you have on your car?

 

Standard Justa with the following options bought, Automatic, Heated Seats, Panoramic Sun Roof and Full LED Lights Package....that is it.

 

When you press that button, what does the display cycle through?

 

This photo that you were very nice to provide is the "bc" button and in my case ONLY gives me the Engine Temp on the dash display....NOTHING ELSE...My 2013 Coupe and prior 2008 Classic when you used the "bc" button as your illustration, I could go thru all the menus to configure the dash info, and that included my digital speed....I am in SHOCK.

 

The fully loaded package is 3 of the other packages combined (I forget which three) for a discount. No way should you have to pack a few grand to see the speed on the screen. BS FLAG!

 

Thought: Is it possible that the 2015 units just "don't" display digital speed? Only analog?

Having a hard time seeing how that package would have any input on the cluster display. What if you just don't get that on the 2015's?
