Returning to MINI in a F56 Cooper S

Just thought I'd start a quick thread detailing my new purchase

I popped into BMW to have a steering wheel trim replaced on my 1 series, and whilst I was waiting I popped over the car park to the MINI showroom where they had put their demo cars on display a couple of days early.

I instantly fell for the car and it's massively improved interior - personally I also think it's a great looking car too. I ended up talking numbers with a salesman and before I knew it I was seriously considering making a purchase!

I slept on it for all of 24 hours and yesterday I put a £500 deposit down to secure an order. I am expecting delivery to be the end of April or the beginning of May.....

The spec I have ordered is as follows:

Cooper S
Thunder Grey
White Roof / Mirrors
18" Cone Spokes in White
Leather Cross Punch Carbon Black / Carbon Black

MINI Yours Off White Interior Pack
- Interior trim (off white)
- MINI Excitment Pack

Media Pack XL
- MINI Navigation System XL
- Enhanced Bluetooth with USB audio
- MINI Connected XL

Chilli Pack
- Multifunction controls for s'wheel
- Floor mats
- Passenger seat height adjustment
- Storage compartment pack
- MINI Driving modes
- Rain sensor with auto headlight activation
- Air conditioning, dual zone automatic
- Interior lights pack
- LED fog lights

Sport Suspension
JCW Steering Wheel
Electric Folding Mirrors
JCW Roof Spoiler
Panoramic Electric Glass Sunroof
Darkened Rear Glass
Front Centre Armrest
Anthracite Headlining
Cruise Control with Brake Function
LED Headlights with Cornering function
Harman Kardon Hi-Fi

Here are a couple of images taken from the configuration site:

I will update as and when I know more in terms of a proper build week etc, but I'm very eager to get in the car ASAP!!!

When you said wheels in white, I almost gagged...but with the white roof it actually looks sharp. I am waiting for Mini #2 to arrive. I wish I could see the interior first hand but the US is a bit behind you guys on launch. You will love your mini. It, more so than any car, becomes part of your personality and less about simple transportation. And you will not find a more enthusiastic community anywhere than mini owners. Happy motoring

Thanks

My wheels will be replaced as soon as I sort some coilover or springs. I have a set of 18x8.5 BBC RC's in 5x120 (ET38) that I bought for my 1 series, that I never got round to fitting.

So I'm keeping them for the MINI, with the HOPE that I can get them under, the OEM tyre size for 18's looks like its going to be 205/40/18 so at least I will have some stretch room!

R99, if you sell sooner rather than later please let me know! In the US (as far as I know from using our configurator), we can not order the 18" cone spoke wheels in white...so I had to go with silver, and plan to have them repainted after I pick up the car from the dealer. Unless of course you'd like to sell me yours!

Very nice! Congratulations!

Is the 'Chilli Pack' unique to England?

I'm thinking of adding a couple of extra options... what are the thoughts on:

Rear view camera
Heated seats
Rear PDC

Or do I save the £££ and order the JCW side skirts instead?

Heated seats are a must for cold, wet England. Rear view camera and PDC -save your money.

Just ordered some bits to get colour coded.

2 x headlight rings
2 x tail lamp rings

The price was around £70.

The plan is to get the dealers bodyshop to CC them in thunder grey & fit them for collection.

I'll just keep the original chrome ones, but may sell them off!

I agree pretty much. Especially the rear view camera. I did, though, go with the PDC which is always nice to have when parking in a tight space. Heated seats are a huge plus if you live in a cold climate area.

I'm not a fan of heated seats. I wonder if I can mount a car warmer, the dealer wouldn't put one in my R50. Idiots.

That rear view camera was an absolute must for me -- really nice to know what's in back of you. I'd think it would pay for itself when the car is eventually traded in.

Rear view camera is fantastic when you are backing out of a parking spot and an SUV or minivan next to you is blocking your view.

I've ended up adding heated seats.... I knew I wouldn't be able to leave the spec alone!!

I also collected my trims from the dealer tonight:

Lloyd's own bodyshop want £300 to paint them in thunder grey!!

I'm 100% getting the headlight / tail light rings done in thunder grey, but my mind is split about what colour to do the large grille trim??

Black or thunder grey??

Any thoughts?

This is the only feature I kind of wish I had gone with. But at least I have the PDC. My wife has a rear camera in her 2012 Hyundai Azera, but sometimes find it distracting. I don't like to rely on it since looking left and right over my shoulder is important. So when I glance down at the camera I momentarily lose sight of left and right, since the camera pretty much looks straight back. I wish backup cameras had a panoramic view so you could see some of what coming from your left and right.

The camera on our '14 Mazda CX-5 show a little on each side in back -- not just straight in back of the vehicle.

Back-up cameras are mandated for 2018. Our Sunday paper says 210 deaths and 15,000 injuries a year -- mainly small children and us geezers.

I added a rearview camera to my 2011 MCSm because I always feared what or whom might be in my blind spot behind. Get the camera. Heated seats help my back pain, and my ladies love them. Get the heated seats. The black grill trim would work great.

I love your build, including the white wheels with white top and white mirrors. Around here, though, they would be dirty immediately, and in summer the mirrors would be spattered with bug bodies.

Congratulations on a great build

I figured that here in Florida, the white roof ought to keep the car a bit cooler, and it goes with those white hood stripes. Hope to have a picture of my car sitting in the driveway w/in two weeks.

After finding out my BBS rims were not going to fit, as MINI have changed the PCD to 5x112, I have spent the last few days trying to locate some new wheels.

So... I've just ordered these:

They are Speedline Marmora's. Their latest wheel.

I have gone for:

18x8
5x112
ET 45

I will wait & see how they sit & if needs be, bang on a set of 12mm hubcentric spacers!
