F55/F56 brake caliper piston spreader
brake caliper piston spreader
While I'm ordering a spark plug socket thought I'd go ahead & order a piston spreader for brake calipers to. what is the actual term for this tool ? Thanx
Hi Stu, the term you’re looking for is “retracting” and @ECSTuning sells the multi-piece one from Schwaben and it’s currently on sale.

I don’t own it however, it has good reviews, great price point and works on multiple makes/models.

Contact them and give them the heads-up on their website error (330) 331-2003.
If you do place an order for the kit the information is:
: MFG# PBK-11PCS
: ECS# ES#9747
: $42.36 on sale from $52.95 (20% off)

I can get to that product page now. Might be worth a retry.
Separately, one can "rent" a kit like this from places like Advance Auto Parts and O'Reilly Auto Parts. I have "rent" in quotes because the way the process works is they charge the price of purchasing it to a CC, and when you bring it back, they refund the full amount. If you don't bring it back before expiry of the rental period you are presumed to have purchased it and can't bring it back as part of the "rental" arrangement. I think O'Reilly has something like a 48 hour rental period, but Advance Auto is longer, or at least that is the case at each of their stores near me.

You want to make sure the brake fluid reservoir level is not too full so as you push the pistons back into the calipers the brake fluid reservoir doesn't overflow. 'course, no matter which way to spread apart the pistons this is a concern.
Not on the rears of these cars!!!!
