I have exclusively driven BMW E46 coupes since 2001 - starting with an 01 325Ci, then an 06 330Ci ZHP and then an 06 M3 (bought in 2011). All were either silver or silver gray, black interior and manual transmission. As much as I love that M3, it was becoming more difficult to live with as a daily driver. I wish I was able to store it under a tarp in an old barn somewhere, but that not possible for a number of reasons. Lack of access to an old barn chief among them.

Going from such an analog car (no Apple carplay, bluetooth, etc etc) to this Iconic trim makes me feel like I'm driving a TIE fighter. Bit of a SNAFU with the online config tool; it made it look like piano black trim only applied to the headlight surrounds (I didn't like the look of that on Moonwalk Gray) and grill trim. I opted out of that and chose chrome exterior, figuring I could just replace the grill trim. Well, now I've got to add the brake duct trim, rear diffuser trim, grill slat and bootlid handle to my dechrome list. Hello Outmotoring.com...

I'd also like to swap out the digital instrument cluster for the analog one. I've got a couple questions for you folks about that, but I'll save them for another thread.

That's a very similar color to my F56 and I actually added chrome (I used to love the chrome on 80's Italian bicycles).
Looks sharp, congratulations.

Thanks! I’m still warming up to them. When I ordered the car, I hoped that I could spec it with the 509 Cup Alloys and JCW spoiler available on 4 door models, but no go. ECS has the 509s on sale for $288 It’d be a no brainer if they were 17”s so I wouldn’t have to get new tires too.

I just took a really long lunch hour to drive around. If it weren’t for a couple meetings this afternoon, I would definitely be taking the afternoon off.

Great looking car! Very different from an M3, but really fun for a DD. Love Moonwalk, too.

And yeah, the configurator doesn't work right for the black/chrome trim. On the JCW, when you select the black trim, the headlight rings stay chrome, for instance.

They had 7 last night, but they're gone now! (Not me, though I was thinking about it)

I was originally going back and forth between Moonwalk Gray and Thunder Gray. TG was too dark for my taste so I went with MWG. I honestly was sort of regretting it - up until I saw the car in person. Up til then, I hadn’t many pics of MWG with body color roof and none in person. For me, the body color roof rounds out the look and feels more balanced (as opposed to a black roof). All of that is to say I really like the color and they way it looks in varying light conditions.

Yeah, I almost pulled the trigger, but then they were gone, and I decided the all-black Track Spokes match my spec better, anyway (and they're a few lbs lighter), so I ordered some of those.

We were just there recently a few times test driving all different MINIs trying to figure out if we wanted a Clubman S, Clubman JCW, JCW Hardtop, or Cooper SE.

Then we bought a Cooper S Hardtop from 700 miles away because we liked the color

It kinda matched our old MINI, so it was the perfect one for us. Sorry, Ferman!

Congrats on the new ride! Aww man, you could’ve gone with just the standard exterior trim and not had so much chrome to replace. Oh well! The black trim is easy to fit for the most part, though the front grille trim is a PITA because you have to remove the bumper. You’re the second person in as many weeks here who wants to swap the digital cluster for the older analog one. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be possible, and may be as easy as retrofitting the analog cluster (it has to be a brand new one) and then removing the 6WB option code from the VO and other areas of the various modules. Basically, the reverse of retrofitting the digital cluster, which is becoming increasingly popular (I have one sitting in my garage, just waiting on the MOST cable to show up).
